So I went to the gun show recently(largest in the area, must have been 1000 people or more, tables were packed out) I handled a lot of revolvers.

I will use a rate system 1~10

First up Taurus, I must have handled 35 or so Taurus from model 94, Judges and 85 and 85 poly + others.

The 85's mostly had sloppy lock ups(5's I found a few, with 7's), the 85 poly's had much better lock ups(8)
The 94's had good to sloppy lock ups(6~8), I handled one that was very tight and was tighter than a LCR 22.
I also got to handle one or two trackers990 model.(7)
I notice the Taurus 454/44mags had very good lock ups.(8)
The Judges mainly had very good lock ups.(7)

S&W all but one I handled was very tight and good. I must have handled 10 or so. 9's rated

I was able to FIND one Charter arms patherfinder 22lr, dead tight lock up, just like a S&W.(9)

Ruger LCR-22, I was not impressed, they had sloppy and sloppery jobs than some of the Taurus.(6~7.5) I found one SP 101 which was about the same as a S&W.(8.5)
I found some GP100's tighter than some S&W

Where were you? One thousand people is not so much...how many tables? DFW Market Hall last weekend had 2000 tables...no idea how many people.

Not going post my location, but this show is double than the others. Probly 800~1200 people or more, the line to get in was like a hour wait for those who didn't have advance tickets.

I am guessing here, maybe 1000 or more tables. The rows were very long, 10-15 or more tables a row, with a 9~12 rows maybe I want to say. I was there all day lol.

Sounds like you had a good time comparison shopping.

15 tables multiplied by 12 rows equals 180 tables.

If the rows were double sided... 30 tables x 12 rows = 360 tables.

Oh my, your right. It's been a long day, last night went to bed 3am, got to the show around 11 got home around 9pm.

Yes had a very good time.

El Paso had a gun show today. Caught a guy trying to sell a 1911 extractor with a broken hook, pointed it out to him and he told me it was for a 9mm. Another person was selling a pair of collectible, low serial number Ruger P90's for around $700 each. Not a single pound of powder or box of primers at any table. Good times.

When you say you were rating lock up, are you just talking about moving the cylinder around inside the gun? Gun shows here require guns to be rendered incapable of firing, usually with a zip tie around the hammer for a revolver.

Must guns are zip tied, and locked to an alarm. Most guns can be dry fired, I only saw a few revolvers(like 4) with zip ties on the cylinder. You could wiggle them all. Open the cylinder(non tied ones) but only pull the hammer half way back, the zip tie stopped it from going all the way back.

I saw a few S&W Gov's the lock ups were around a 9. One was very tight. This model 94 I picked up almost had the tightness of this S&W Gov.

So 9mm - I'd be interested in hearing more about your assessment of the Ruger LCR-22 s that you looked at. When you say they were sloppy - how did you judge that? Since they are fairly new to the market and DA only - I would have to assume that you held the frame and there was a lot of play in the cylinder? Were they new or used? I looked at and handled quite a few Ruger LCR 357s before I purchased mine (as well as 38 and 38+Ps) and found them all to lock up tight. I've put 500 + rounds through mine with no problems what so ever. I've looked at a couple of LCR-22s that were NIB and they were they typical Ruger quality - ie - they were fine bot in fit and finish and tight lock up. Could you expand a little on what you saw in regards to the Ruger LCR-22s that caused you to classify them as sloppy? Thanks.

Yes when I say sloppy I mean play in the cylinder, I held a few Taurus which had better lock up than the LCR. Maybe it was just a bad batch.

All these guns new, I have held a ruger 357/38 before, lock up was good.

On the LCR-22's.....was there cylinder play only when the trigger was at rest....or when the trigger was pulled back as well?.....

It was when it was at rest, just like all of them I was testing.
