Here's a con trick. Carry an assortment of $20's, $10's, and $5's. Carry the money of different denominations in different pockets, so that you can reach in, and by feel, pull out just how much you need. Decide what you wanna pay for something, and ask $20-$200 lower (sometimes less, sometimes more, depends on price of the item, and how firm the *della* is on that price.) He'll than probably try and talk you up to his price. you can....
A. cave, cuz you really want it, at any price, or...
B. Say you only have X amount(somewhere between your two last offers.)
If he says OK, you can reach into, an assortmant of pockets, and pull out, just that amount, not a dime more. If he says, No, tell him you have to go find....
A. the ol' lady...or
B. Your buddy....
To try and bum some cash. Then you can come back, and make another offer.
I sometimes have my brother, hold a few of my extra $$, that I try and "talk him out of" when I'm standing in front of the guy I'm buying from
But remember, take an assortment of cash. Plastic and checks leave paper trails, as do SOME dealers, there's always a number of "private owners" just selling oftheir collection. These are the best.
