Gun Show Outrages Prices!

So I went to a local gun show today and there was a vender there selling CCI .22LR MINI MAGS 100RD packs for the low price of $50.00 a piece or 5 packs for $150.00:eek: no joke. There was also some jackass walking around with a Tupperwared SKS with a sign that said "Asault Rifle For Sale $1500.00 I am not sure what I was more offended by calling it an "Asault Rifle" or asking $1500.00 for it.......:eek: I did manage to get a GSG 1911 .22LR pistol for $380.00 and it shoots like a dream:)
 
Ya, this isn't really anything new unfortunately. When a ruger mini 14 is SELLING for $2000+, it kinda makes you wonder what goes through people's heads.
 
To be honest I thought most of the sellers at my local gun shows were insane BEFORE all this crap went down. I guess now they've entered the realm of criminal insanity, but I wouldn't know for sure. I stopped going to gun shows before this mess because I figured out I wasn't saving a dime on much, and what could be saved on wasn't a big enough savings to warrant buying it from some unknown Billy Bob who had the 20 bucks to reserve a table.
 
Really, do we need ANOTHER thread about high prices?

Have you guys been hibernating? This has been going on for months, it may or may not calm down, depending on legislation.

But, please give it a rest already
 
^^^^ YEP! I dont blame the sellers if someone is dumb enough to buy pmags for $100 you might as well sell it.

if you have a car and 1 person wants to buy it for $3000 and someone else wants to buy it for $20,000 who ya gonna sell it too?? problem is people payin that much. if people stop buyin prices will come down

I pretty much wrote off gun shows for saving money along time ago, but I went to this one for two reasons I was looking for H110 powder for my 300BLK and it was at really nice venue (Performing Arts Convention Center)this time compared to the (fair grounds) where it usually is. Don't get me wrong not every vendor had outrageous prices there were a few asking fair prices for there wares. I will say this there were plenty of ARs and AKs to be had P-Mags for $25.00 a new M&P15OR AR-15 for $900.00 whereas a LGS had that same rifle for $1700.00 just last week. So depending on what you were after there were deals I suppose.:)
 
I last went to a gun show two years ago and except for some OK ammo deals I didn't see anything worth buying. Now there are no OK ammo deals there either, so I save myself the trouble.

If it helps to keep the uninformed from making the mistake of buying at these outrageous prices, then it’s worth it.

I just got back from a gun show in Princeton Illinois. Ammo prices are getting to the point of being criminal. $50 for a box of 333 count bulk pack .22LR. Russian made steel cased .223 and 7.62x39 marked at $25 per 20 rounds ($1.25 a round). Come on! I’m all for Capitalism, but this is criminal.

To be fair, not everyone was asking those kind of prices, but those that where need to re-examine their ethics.

I still don't understand why some people think it's criminal to ask what you want for your own property. After many decades of selling stuff, I have finally noticed that I never get more than I'm asking for. So it's better to ask for the highest amount possible that you think someone will buy your goods at.

A few pieces of Elvis Presley's hair sold for $20,000 a few years ago. I'm guessing that that was probably at least a felony to you, maybe life imprisonment if not the death penalty?

Went to tanger outlet today about 2:30,,,looks like they had a good crowd.

Capt Rick yea I was at the Starbucks across the street earlier and it looked like a pretty good crowd as was yesterday.
 
If it's mine, I can ask anything I want for it. That's what I think it's worth to me. You don't have to agree with me. Don't buy it. Make a lower offer.

I can always come down, but I can't go up.

Yup, it's called supply and demand. I thought it was a topic learned in economics in about grade 11 or 12.
 
If you really want to convince yourself, auction off a bulk pack of .22lr on Gunbroker. Make it a "no reserve" auction, and set the opening bid at a penny.

When the auction ends and the dust settles, you'll know once and for all who's driving the current ridiculous ammo prices (hint - it's not the sellers).
 
If I had an ounce of rational thought in me, I'd sell all but one or two my guns and 90% of my ammo right now. Unfortunately, I'm just not that rational. If you think about it, many of us are sitting on winning lottery tickets and are refusing to cash them in because......??????:confused:

What goes through their heads is the desire to make a profit - just like anyone else

ASKING and GETTING are two different animals - it is always easier for someone to lower their prices (in retail it is called a 'sale', in the restaurant business it is called the 'daily special'), than to realize you priced it too low and want to raise it.
