Gun sales

Interesting that Wal-Mart is number one.

With all the Wal-Mart bashing that goes on around here (and I've done my part too because of their ridiculous, idiotic---but let's save that for another thread) I'm surprised they are the leader. There is a LOT of firearm stuff they don't carry. Just goes to show, I guess, that having a lot of stores carrying the common stuff can pay off.

And yeah, even though I complain, I still shop there because of their prices and because there's almost alway a Wal-Mart around.

Interesting that Wal-Mart is number one.

Yes, same here. I must admit I don’t shop there very often, but have visited a couple of local stores specifically to check out firearms and ammo. The two stores I visited had no firearms for sale and only a patchy assortment of ammo with no .380, 9mm, .40 or .45ACP. I guess they have some models they use to dictate which items they carry in each store.

They are probably the biggest retailer of a lot things they carry.

There aren't to many really large firearms retailers. Certainly none that have the presence around the country that walmart does.

Interesting that walmart is #1 because many locations no longer carry firearms. Most carry some kind of ammo but I have not been to a walmart with firearms in Northern IL or Southern WI since I was a kid (early 90's).

Edit: I did a search and not one walmart came up within 50 miles of where I live (NW Chicago Burbs) that sells firearms...this might be in error but I would believe it. I even tried a Chicago Zip Code...0 Walmarts that sell firearms; the third largest by population Metra area and they can't managed to put one that sells firearms within 50 miles. Don't let Chicago bad wrap with gun rights get to you; 40% of the states gun owners come from the so called "Collar counties" around Chicago.

I also did a search using the zip code of my families Wisconsin property in the Lake Geneva area; only ONE within 50 miles that seems to sell firearms..I know of at least three walmarts within 15 miles of the Lake Geneva area.

Imagine if every non-urban Walmart had firearms how big of a business it could be; I am really surprised we do not see more suburban Walmarts getting into the gun business. Then again that almost goes against the corporate mentality; unless you hire multiple FFL's then you are basically juicing someone in..even with three or four guys; the inability to just FIRE someone without consideration I imagine might play into it too.

Our local Walmart (semi rural SE Tenn) has plenty of guns and ammo. At present it has at least 8-10 ARs. They've steadily increased those over the past 6 months. I've bought bulk 5.56 and just last weekend a bulk of 1600 rounds of cci minimag for $97 + tax.

I don't think theres a gun owner in the entire USA, that has'nt purchased ammo from a WalMart Store....And their shotgun prices are awesome low.
