Since this is where handguns are spoken,I guess I will ask this question here. Don't know if its the right place but they have to come out of storage from someplace.
Does anyone know the recommended temperature
and humidity that should be maintained inside a gun safe? Mine is at 64* and 34% rel. hum. :)

Happy Shooting :)

Most firearms are designed to endure as much variation in environment as their owners, if not more. They are, for the most part, outdoor items. 64 degrees should not harm them in any way, and keeping the humidity low will help prevent the odd spot of corrosion.

Jim, my safe already has one in it, it came with it as part of the package. I was just curious if there was a set Temp and humidity to maintain. I'm pretty sure I'm in good shape. Thanks guys for the response. :)

I live in a coastal community and am always battling either cool air or humidity (and always salt air). What I have in my safe are two large packages of silica pellets that I regularly put in the oven to dry out. They realy seem to work as I have not experienced a rust problem.

Ofcourse, I always have the shooting irons out for a little rub down with an oily cloth, whether they need it or not!
