Gun related Nokia cellphone graphics?

I'm not sure if Nokias are hot in the US, but over here they have almost taken over the cellphone market. The Finns are now probably the most wireless people on the earth, and us Scandinavians are doing our best to follow.

Anyway, I have just bought a new 8210, small and fancy, and am now in the process of personalizing it. You can for exampel change the logo of the service operator on the display to another logo of you choice. The Nike "Svosh" and the logo of the local brewery are very popular. Now I am thinking of showing my colours as a shooter and gunowner, and I am wondering if anyone is sitting on gunrelated Nokia graphics files?
Gun manufacturer logos?

TIA

I dont think the 8210 is available in the US... at least not in or near Utah.
I am very much wanting the 9110... but tis not to be. Even if I flew there to Amsterdam, bought the phone with cash and took it home - no service provider will suport it.

Thank you, Mendocino. I do lurk a bit, but haven't really had anything intelligent to contribute, so I've mostly kept quiet.

I guess the European and US cellphone standards aren't necessarily compatible. From http://www.nokia.com/phones/8210/index.html it seems that the 8210 is only available in "Europe & Africa, Asia Pacific". Too bad, it's a sweet little phone. And it fits in the front pockets of my jeans, the most important criteria for me. I hate a cellular phone that needs a particular means of transport, like a jacket or bag or anything really ...

I guess I'll end up making my own gun related graphics. Prob the S&W logo or something ...

ArticBoy, please do not use S&W graphics. Use some other manufacturer. S&W surrendered its rights to our support when it cut a deal with the Clinton administration. There is an active boycott of their products as a reward for their decision.

The Second Amendment to the US Constitution is something of extreme value to us and we are not interested in promoting the fortunes of organizations that do not share those values.

They are availible in the us they can be turned on through at&t, at a price of 500 buck with a contract, my 6120 is good enough. I am also interested in putting on the graphics, if anyone has the info let me know too!

I know a guy who has HK - No compromise logo in his Nokia (here in Finland). Sorry, I don't know where he got it, but at least those logos do exist. Of course it is possible he or some friend of his has programmed it (he is computer oriented).

See guys, the FCC has mandated the comminucations industry to upping their standard to the Euro standard. Not that this is a bad thing, but they were given something like 10 years to try to get in step. This would have been the digital standard on telecom, TV, etc.

Ever wonder why Sprint was the only all-digital network. They got in on the ground floor of digital. Every one else has had to play catchup, and guess who's paying the bill for the upgrades???

Best Regards,
Don

Why? That hasn't stopped me!

There are three standards for Digital cellular/PCS: CDMA, TDMA and GSM. CDMA and TDMA account for the vast majority of the digital network in the U.S., with GSM a very far distant third. In Europe, GSM is the runaway favorite (even though the GSM encryption was broken last year--the GSM standards committee is still pretty steamed over it). According to Nokia's specs on the phone, it is only GSM-compatible. I guess Nokia didn't see a large market for a CDMA/TDMA version to sell in the U.S.

Hey, I sympathize! I am a member of the Norwegian Gunowners Association, and we are fighting a hopeless battle defending what small liberties we are allowed as shooters over here. You are lucky to have your 2. amendment. We are subject to the whims of our clueless politicians, with not even an NRA to fight for us. In a country with an estimated number of a shotgun in every 4th home, we are sadly sheepish when it comes to defending our right to own guns.

Ok, so f**k S&W. It's just that I luuuv my 686 :) Oh well, I do like my SIG 226 a lot as well ...

Ossi:

I am somewhat computer oriented myself, and I have already located a Nokia-logo design application, just a bit lazy, thought maybe someone had done it before me.
You Finns sure know how to make cellphones, though!

Heh, actually I'm writing my master thesis on traffic optimization in generic TDMA satelite systems. But for me it's only a vehicle for trying out some combinatorial optimization and graph theory, I have absolutely no clue when it comes to the actual applications of "time division - multiple access". That's mathematicians for you.

Well, you sure are a friendly lot. Maybe I should post a bit more often. After the European Soccer Championships anyway ...

From Hávamál http://www.itn.is/~gunnsi/havamal.htm , approx 800 AD. (You should really read this, it is the condensation of our Viking wisdom. It has certainly lost a lot of rythm and beauty in the translation, but that goes for the translation from Old Norse to Norwegian as well. Only the Icelanders can read it like it is supposed to.)

What about a plastic case that holds the phone? You could make it look just like a Glock, for example. That way every time you use your phone in public, the SWAT team will be called. Very exciting.

D'ya mean this one Mr. Hill ? :)

The one I REALLY WANT is the 9110...
It opens up to reveal a qwerty key pad and a bigger display. Much better for emails and logging into TFL.
