Gun related new years resolutions

Well, its getting to be that time of year again and this should prompt most of you to start coming up with some that are actually meaningful. Most times I've only got a few days to think of one and I never arrive at a good one in such short time.

Mine is to transition my spending to spend less on guns and more on shooting them to get more proficient. Taking what I'd typically spend on the guns themselves and spend it on training, ammo, some accessories. I will probably purchase a McMillan stock and an aftermarket barrel during 2014. Those are the only purchases other than ammo, mags, and training (I hope) in 2014.
 
Personally I'd like to stockpile a but more ammo, while practicing more. A bit counterproductive, but I digress.

I have 10, yes TEN, rounds of .223, not letting that happen again.
 
Pretty much the same here, I'd like to put away at least 100 or more rounds away for my personal stash each month to try and build up my supplies.

Perhaps make it out to the range more frequently and such.
 
I vow that 2014 will be the last year I will purchase guns that I think are "cool" but really don't need.:D
 
For 2014, I want to stop vacillating and get one of my favorite discontinued models while they're still available, something in excellent or like-new condition.

Tops contenders:

Agree with OP, I'd like to start reloading. Now that I've got a larger variety of firearms to mess with and become proficient with, it will pay to be able to shoot more for the money, even if I don't SAVE any.

But even more than that... Do whatever I can... Anything in my power, to get the NY S.A.F.E. Act repealed. If anyone is interested in that, message me, or respond to this thread, or something...

Right now, I'd like to make a crap-ton of videos to debunk the entire thing, and hope it does well on Youtube. If it can get as many views as that other crappy firework video I posted, I'd be happy... Granted, that was 400,000 views, so not holding my breath...

There's gotta be something we can do. Almost no one around here supports it (upstate NY), besides the more urban areas, and yet still, 2/3 DISapprove of the law (upstate). That taking into account all the urban areas, especially in my region. As a state, not even half the people agree, and if urban know-nothings-on-guns were excluded, you would have an approval rating of aprox. 1/5, if even that.

It really is very frustrating...
 
My new years resolution was to not shoot any factory center fire ammo. Just my hand loads. I have done pretty well. I have gone through less than 100 factory rounds
 
My new year resolution is to outspend on guns, ammo and shooting of the previous year.
You know how the game is played; The person who dies with the most guns and ammo wins!!!! :D
 
I like jersurf's resolution alot and may adopt that for 2015. I am just now starting to reload so I doubt that will happen in 2014. I mainly want to load .308 WIN and .223 REM for my rifles. 9mm is the only pistol cartridge I shoot in any real volume.

My resolution is to not fret about my gun buying addiction,,,
Just get what tickles my fancy as long as I can pay cash,,,
My one inviolate gun rule is no guns on credit cards.

Mine is to save up the money to buy one of the high end trap guns I have always wanted. For the last several years I got off to a good start then ended up spending it on a gun that I wanted and already had that much saved. Then I start on the trap gun again and buy a different gun again...
 
More S&Ws

I feel the need for a really nice nickled S&W revolver of some sort. Not going to be picky about caliber just quality. Box,tools and paper work a must.
Then a nice 29-2 , 27-2, 57 and a 68 and on and on.
PS. Just don't tell my wife. PLEASE. :eek:
 
Buying American

Whatever I decide to do it will be American made, built, machined, assembled. Not necessarily in that order, but you get it. If I can't afford it, then I don't need it. 2014
 
i will be doing a little of both, id like to buy more reloading dies and also pick up a couple of new firearms.

id be content to get:
glock 23- to compliment my sub2k
sig 226
high power browning nickle
ruger gunsite scout .308
 
My resolution is to continue to build up my supply of ammunition for every caliber I own by reloading for everything. I also want to commit to saving some money every month from some side jobs ($100-$200) and putting that towards new firearms. Yet another is to finally get a gun safe to store all my firearms and ammunition in. Not only to protect my investments but to keep my family safe as I now have a 9 month old that is very mobile.
 
Mine would be very much like SKANS. I need to stay out of gun stores and off armslist.
I can still get my daily FL fix
