Check this out: PA Gun Control
Unless you want to pay $10/year/gun and have to register every gun you own, with the state police who will then have power to simply take your guns...write your district reps. They can be found here: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/ using the box in the upper right hand corner of that web page. Let em know we're a state of hunters and gun owners.
Also, take a good look at the names on that bill. If any of the people listed below are your reps remember to very respectfully let them know how much you disagree with it, and remember what they did next election time.

Angel Cruz - Democrat, PA District 180, acruz@pahouse.net
Rosita Youngblood - Democrat, District 198, ryoungbl@pahouse.net
Cherelle Parker - Democrat, District 200, cparker@pahouse.net
Jake Wheatley - Democrat, District 19, jwheatley@pahouse.net
Lisa Bennington - Democrat, District 21, lbennington@pahouse.net
Lawrence Curry - Democrat, District 154, lcurry@pahouse.net

Also, if you happen live in district 118 remember to thank your rep Mike Carroll (Democrat), for opposing it.

The usual suspects introducing a go nowhere bill. Even Ed Rendell won't go near this but it is good to keep a watch on junk legislation like this. And write your legislators.

This has to rank as the dumbest most useless legislation proposed so far this year. Even the Democrat Union thugs will oppose this one, tax their hunting rifles? No way.

My local reps are 100% opposed to this already.

Even if he's not throwing a lot of weight behind it, if something like this bill would ever get through the house and senate, Rendell would sign it in a heartbeat.:barf:

But, there are others on the books. Here is an excerpt I picked up from PA Firearm Owners Association:
HB 22 is a One Gun A Month Law covering handguns, HB 30 is an Assault Weapon Ban so broad that it bans all shotguns with detachable magazines and Olympic grade target pistols like the Hammerli 280 and Walther GSP, HB 277 would establish a useless "Ballistic Database". HB 291 bans all handguns except for "smart guns" that don't exist yet and HB 957 outlaws, all 5.7 mm pistols and ammunition.
Could well be more of the same. But maybe if we stuff their mailboxes and ring their phones off the hooks now to let them know how we feel they may think twice before trying some more subtle stuff.

Bump, and link to Rep. Samuel Rohrer's (R-Berks) petition "Say NO to More Gun Control."

LINKY

Most online petitions are a waste of time, but this one is being run by a member of the state legislature. Please go sign it.

I'm a Pa resident and this kind of crap sickens me. They're going to bust out the usual lies about how this will lower crime and make rainbows shine more often. I hope it won't get far, but it should be attacked by gun owners as soon as possible.

$10 per gun / per year

Found this on another forum, thought some of you might like to see it:

Pa now wants you to register all your guns within the state, and tax you $10 per gun per year. They also want each gun owner finger printed and to have a back round check. You will get a registration card for each firearm and it must be carreid with the firearm at all times. "Any gun that registration is denied for would then be confiscated by the state police."
This is getting rediculous. I was just on the phone with the governors office to tell the what I think of their new proposal. This is just the first step in getting rid of them all together. If you live in Pa call and let them know. Even if you don't, call anyway!

Gov. Rendell: 717-787-2500
Senator Eichelberger: 717-787-5490 He is keeping track of the calls that come in

EVERY GUN OWNER NEEDS TO JOIN THE NRA!!!!

Har de har har.... HAR

Two of the original sponsors have "Withdrawn" their sponsorship. They are from Pittsburgh. Now there are only four sponsors from Philly.

The biggest threat with a so-called "annual registration" scheme comes when the legislature gets in a financial bind and de-funds the bureau that renews the registrations. What happens then? After a year, ALL guns are illegal unregistered firearms, subject to confiscation.

One also has to ask other questions. If I register all my guns every year and one year, one of the guns "pops up" as "stolen", does the state automatically seize all my guns until it's sorted out? Or invalidate all my registrations? Is my liberty riding on the ability of a dyslexic clerk somewhere in Idaho miskeying a serial number into NCIC?

Since the registration will be required and a fee (tax) levied, is that fee tax deductible like auto registration?

We have to register to vote, but that is free because voting is a right. Owning a firearm is also a right and rights may not be taxed (or fees imposed). Is the state willing to implement registration without fees?
