I have a Para Ordnance P-13 that is showing some wear on the steel frame. What would be a good, protective, long lasting finish?
I have heard of NP3, Bear Coat, and Wilson's new finish. Which is the best and what is the average cost? Thanks in advance..

RCH, if you can afford it go with NP3. Not only does it offer lasting protection but it will actually improve the pistol's action, trigger pull, etc. I'm not sure but I think it's around $200. That's high but it's worth it. George

RCH: I don't have it on any of my semi-autos, but have hard chrome on three revolvers. The work was done by Accurate Plating and Weaponry aka Cogan Custom in Safety Harbor, FL. They're located just north of Clearwater. Cogan did a fantastic job with the hard chrome. Another hard chrome specialist is called (I think) Checkmate...also located in FL, up near Gainesvill or Ocala. Hard chrome can be applied in a brush, satin, or polished (like stainless steel from S&W). Prices and turn-a-round time were reasonable.

in Tallahassee, FL. They are just down the road from me so I have seen a lot of their work. They have refinished all of our Police Department issue Remington Shotguns and they appear to be holding up very well. Give them a call and they will send you a sample piece of metal with their finish on it. They were comparable in price to everyone else.
