It just occured to me that all gun control laws that seek to eliminate possession of certain weapons (NFA, GC68, etc) are really hate crime laws. Hate crime seeks to punish the intent or thoughts of a person. These laws assume that since you are possessing the weapon, your intent is to commit a crime. Why not fight these laws like we fight hate crime laws? Don't even respond to their questions about why we need such a weapon. Put the discussion in a context where they are trying to punish thoughts.
I don't have a problem with laws that punish those who commit a crime with a firearm, but don't punish simple possession of anything.
We need to fight these laws one by one until they are gone, just like those bastards who are taking our rights away one by one. We should pick one onerous law and go after it, tooth and nail. Talk to your representatives about it as well as your neighbors and friends. Get the ball rolling.
