Gun on the Beach?

Does anyone know if it is legal to carry a concealed firearm (with a state issued CWL, of course) on Florida beaches?

If the purpose of the beach is going in the water, what are you going to do with the gun then?

If you leave it unattended - that's probably a bad idea.

Going to take a dip with it - how are you going to carry?

I'm certainly not an authority on Florida law, but unless it is specifically prohibited statutorily I don't see that it'd be any different than any other public area such as a shopping center. I'd not have a second thought about legal cc on Texas beaches.

Beach areas that are a part of a National Park I understand are a no, no for all firearms, but other areas I'd think would be governed by the general laws of Florida.

If the beach is part of the state park system, it's illegal. A good dive knife would probably be pretty easy to explain away though...

Or a spear gun...or a bang stick...or a flare gun...or a 2x4...
