You don't have nearly as many long guns as most shooters I know.
It is legitimate to claim that as to your handguns, you have yet to decide which are "keepers".
Also, explain to her that different guns have different purposes. There are target rifles and there are hunting rifles and there are general plinkers.
A shotgun for geese or trap is not necessarily one's choice for dove or quail.
There are target pistols, carry-guns, and bedside-table critters, as well as plinkers and competition revolvers and pistols. One or two of each is not all unusual. You may quote me; I'm not being facetious.
Now, if they're NIB in the floor of the closet, that's different. You're gonna have to do some creative interpretation of reality.
As an example of the good old days when "gun bug" and "gun nut" were honorable terms, Capt. Phil Sharpe's personal collection of long guns was somewhere over 300. All "users". He was a professional shooter, reloader, tester, writer, and involved in the administration of major matches such as Wimbledon and Camp Perry.
If one regards guns in the sense of "tools as art", uses them lawfully, and is not spending too much grocery money upon them, a large inventory is not unusual.
Have fun, Art
