Gun manufacturing rumors

Can anyone out there shed any light on a couple of rumors that are drifting among the various forums on-line?
1. That Kahr has an even lighter/smaller 9mm in the works that will be the exact same size as the MK9 but with the polymer handle of the P9 covert. Based on the size of the p9 covert, a gun of this size should weight less than 17 oz. Might be a nifty carry piece if Kahr irons out the apparent teething bugs in their new polymer pistols.

\2. Kel-Tec .380 auto in the works? That would be news because no doubt it would be a breakthrough design for concealed carry. How I wish Kel-Tec would upgrade their materials and workmanship and charge a little more for their products.

Your comments are always welcome.

Jeff,
I think Kahr has confirmed that they will debut the polymer version of the MK9 at the '02 Shot Show. (Feb. ?)

Given the problems with the current polymer guns, and the usual difficulties in getting the "hot, new" handgun, I figure, wait a year, and it should be a good, easily obtainable product.

As far as KelTec, don't hold your breath.
They have been asked countless times over the years to improve quality control and develop new products.
The P32 was what, 4 -5 years ago?
They have redesigned the carbine, but in several phone calls, and emails, have shown no interest in making a single stack gun of any caliber.
Kahr has beat them to the pocketable, single-stack 9.
Many have said that the P32 design could handle .380.
Unles something has changed in the last few months, KelTec is not interested.

I sent them a lengthly email about the cost savings that they could see if they developed a good statistical quality control program. No interest. If they are doing SQC now something is bad wrong.
I have had 2 P11s, and currently have 2 P32s.
All have needed work.
My current P32 is not 100% reliable, and it will be replaced as soon as reliable pocket gun replacement (Kahr MKP9?) is available.

Unless KelTec wakes up and smells the coffee, when I leave them, I won't look back.

Appreciate your prompt and informative reply. I totally agree with you on Kel-Tec. I have also owned a P11 and it was a total lemon. You must agree that the design of their P32 is brilliant but the end-product leaves much to be desired. I own a P32 and posivitely LOVE it but I'm a little apprehensive about it's longevity and durability.

If you've examined any of the KAHR products up close, you'll see a night-and-day difference in quality between them and Kel-Tec. The KAHR's appear to be superior in workmanship and materials by far. You look at the barrel, slider, guide rod, trigger, etc and their guns are built to go the distance. Their teething problems with polymer handles, IMHO, will be corrected forthwith. If they indeed offer an "MP9" version, I'll make it my full-time pocket carry piece.

If all this transpires........anyone want to buy a P32??

You guys are right. Boy, I'd LOVE to get a QUALITY P32. It really is a GREAT idea for a gun! If Kel-Tec would put $50 more quality into their guns they would be a MAJOR firearms manufacturer instead of just another gun company.

I've got 2 P-32s & one P-11 and haven't had problems with any of them. The P-32 came out 2.5 years ago & the serial numbers are now at 60,000 +, probably one of the best selling guns the past couple of years. The quality of Kel-Tec isn't as good a Kahrs but I've been noticing here lately the problems Kahr is having with their polymer guns.

Kel-Tec just came out with a new product, the SUB 2000 rifle. Just came out in November but reports from those who have them have been very positive. Price is about $299 to $349 from what I've seen from those who have them.

Take a look:

Not holding my breath on a P-380 but who knows? Maybe one day. It would have to be bigger than the P-32 but hopefully not much.

I've thought the Kel-tec trigger to be horrible and my friends have had serious trouble with them.

I don't understand the appeal of the carbine though except as a blinker. You can get a much more effect shotgun cheaper or even a lever action with much better quality.

Just think: many of you will get to be the Kahr lab rats and heck, when you have to send the sub compact Polymer Kahrs back once or twice, I am sure many of you will rave about the great six week turnaround.

Kahr is great at using us as guinea pigs, they did it with the K series and are doing it with their P series.

I am sure we will get our usual unbiased opinions from the gun rags.
