I recently bought box of books, catalogs, papers, ect. There is a lot of owners manuals
for older model guns. I guess 1960s-80s. Can any of you collectors value these for me?
Both eBay and GunsAmerica have listings for manuals. Those will give you a ballpark idea. Other than that (asking prices will almost certainly be inflated), you'd have to have a professional look at them, as value is a matter of condition, scarcity, and desirability.
^^^^^^ Agree !! ^^^^^^^^^
Going into the above websites will give you a ball park estimate on what they are going for. I suspect that the Marlins might see some good action. There are always folks that are looking for this material for their guns....
The value of gun manuals is limited, these days, by the fact that one can now download manuals for practically everything. Here, for instance: http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/FIREARMS/
There's not much incentive for someone who needs a manual for a particular gun, especially a common one, to spend money for it, so the market may well be restricted to people who collect manuals for their own sake.
