Gun Makers Doing Well

I have a friend who has a really well stocked sporting goods store and an amazing rifle and handgun section. I visited him yesterday and he was saying all the US gun makers are so far behind orders he's got guns ordered back from last September! He sells them as soon as they come in. He's very smart as to what he orders btw. No K-Mart or Walmart type of stuff. Only the good stuff.

The new Ruger Americans are impossible to get along with many Savage, Remingtons, Winchesters and others.

This is a good thing for our manufacturers.

I like to see gun manufactures doing well and making profits. Keeps people employed and more gun choices for me.

You are evil, DNS. :)

The article is nicely nuanced about the reality of the issues. Points out the clay feet of many of the major players of all persuasions. It is not just a rant.

Thanks for the tip.

Americans are buying guns up as fast as they can make them. The Police are collecting guns as fast as they can, and trying to dis-quailfy everyone they can from ownership. I still think we're winning.

A reference? Are they not trying to get guns off the street? Are guns not confiscated for any little reason? Even people who use guns in a righteous manner have their guns taken away and it usually takes an attorney to get them back?

I don't have a reference. I've just been paying attention. If you guys can't see the trends, I'm sorry to hear that. :D

Sorry, Edward - that doesn't cut it here. We don't make blanket statements like that. It is not up to our standards. That's a hint, take it anyway you want.

My son-in-law works at a place (I used to work there) that makes everything but the barrels for AR15 and M4 rifles. They have been working 24/7 for the past couple months, with no end in sight.

As far as shortages. I need more ammo so I first go to Wally's and they are low. Got a box of 45 ACP WWB. They had a AR on sale.

So I go to Academy - which has quite a few around San Antonio. They have lots of WWB - so I get some 9mm. I need it for matches, not apocalypses.

I noted that they had 25 AR-15 on the racks and some Beretta carbine. No shortage here.

Lots of polymer semis of all types and Beretta 92s, 1911s.

@Warbirdlover I know a gun store owner and he said the same thing. He actually said, "between me and you, I hope Obama gets re-elected because my sales are through the roof."

He's a Republican. LOL. He also told me that thanks to false Republican fear mongering, he's getting almost double what he could get before. I found out because I went to buy the Walther P22. I bought my first one years ago when it was only $225, now they are running close to $400 in some stores here in Vegas. I guess it depends on who you talk to whether or not Obama is bad for the economy. I've been doing very well myself and I don't sell guns.

Pretty amazing that the mainline firearms manufacturers are doing more and more business while more competition comes into the market. I think the demographics have really swung in our favor. I know so many more people who have taken an interest in shooting in the last five years than I ever saw before. In the 80s and 90s shooting was getting marginalized, but now it seems to be more mainstream and only the most radical oppose them.

This is turning into the golden age of firearms. More selection than ever and quality is pretty darn good overall. We may not see the specific quality of a Colt Python blueing, ut functional quality is good in the industry.

I have to chuckle at this thread, because the firearms industry is one of the few things going right with our economy.
