Gun Leather

I would love to get some gun leather for my Beretta Stampede (SAA remake) with 4.75 inch barrel but I don't want to break the bank. Is there a place where I can get a decent rig for around $50-$100? Maybe even just a belt with loops and a Mexican loop holster.

I've been dealing with Frank at Rocking K Saddlery putting together a holster for a Schofield. He's been great to deal with and the Dodge City style holster I've decided on is about $78.

All his stuff is custom but he only hurts your wallet if you get carried away.

Don't buy cheap leather if you're planning on using it a lot. A lot of Mexican stuff is urine tanned. It will hold up well with use but don't get it wet.

Good leather..

typically costs good money. You should be able to piece together a decent rig from El Paso Saddlery for about two bones. I have had several holsters from them and am getting ready to order another. Their turnaround is under six weeks as of now! Be sure to check auction sites and your LGS as well. I once picked up an EPS Money Belt and 1880 holster, used for 70 bucks from my LGS. If you don't have the scratch on hand for some good leather, I would just wait 'til you can save a bit more. Down the road, the quality will prove its worth.

You do NOT want Oklahoma Leather if you intend to use it a lot. It's chrome tanned and wont hold up to hard use. That's why it's so cheap.

+1 on making your own.

It's a blast! I started with my first one about a month ago for a Ruger Old Army - since then I've made two more - for a ruger mark II and for an 1858 Remmie 36 cal.
