Gun Laws in Los Angeles....

Heya folks,

It looks like my work might (*finally*) be taking me home. 'Course, it wouldn't immediately take me to anyplace where I actually have friends as such, but to LA, which from my general impression has a very strange reputation.

Could someone please give me the straight facts that I'd need to know as a returning US Citizen on gun ownership in LA? Every search result I've found is dripping with political agenda, which makes it automatically suspect to me as actual knowledge.

The laws here in California are very complicated, as far as CCW's, "assault weapons" and the like.

Use of firearms for self defense is pretty straightforward.

I would highly recommend, very highly, the book;

"How to own a gun and stay out of jail" by John Machtinger published by Gun Law Press. It is specific to California.

I live in AZ but occasionally have reason to go to Kalifornia:barf:

They have their own version of the AWB that hasn't sunsetted, so you can't have a handgun with more than 10rd magazine capacity. You can't have an assault rifle with the 3 key feature combinations of bayonet, folding stock, and something else silly.

To be safe when I go over (safe from BG's and the law) I take a revolver that is unloaded in the trunk in a locked case with a separate container holding speed loaders. This doesn't immediately protect me, but if I feel threatened in advance (like it's Riot Week this week...again...) I can get it out and load it.

I would rather take my XD9 but I fear having a gun taken away over something stupid like mag capacity.
 
Can only buy guns that the state has tested and approved as "safe". Stop laughing d(&)& it. All must be registered with the state within I think ten days of bringing them into the state. That about says it all. :barf:
