gun law?

I know that when I fill out a 4473 that there is a statement on the back that says if I am a felon attempting to purchase a firearm, I can get so much prison time, and so much of a fine. Does anybody know what law this is so that I can verify it for my report?

Also, Moderators, my paper is just under 2000 words, and I said I would post it. Can this forum handle that kind of load? Should I just e-mail it to those interested? It really isn't that great. Overbroad topic, so I had to edit all the really good stuff out. Thanks in advance for the legal info!
