Gun-kote on stainless?

I was thinking of putting gun-kote on my 3" sp101. A dark
grey or OD green. Am I asking for trouble with the stainless? I thought it would look good, or have I lost my mind. Any photos would be great. Thanks
 
I've been watching for a reply as well, bit so far no bites. Maybe this would do better in the Smithy forum?
 
I know this is the revolver forum, but I wanted a black Colt Defender (they only come stainless). I sent it to APW in Florida and they said they had to coat it with Hardchrome and then lightly blast it to get the black to adhere.

I've used Guncoat on blue firearms and they needed to be lightly sand/bead blasted to get it to stick. Probably the same with stainless. However, I did put GC on a Colt Agent (parkerized) and it turned out good except the cylinder hand/stop wore a groove around the cylinder.

Birdsongs Black-T is as good as they come. Also available in "nato green". I have three handguns with it and they show no wear after three years. Also works well on stainless. He is located in Florence MS. Give him a call, hes a real nice guy.
Almost forgot, he does some military, DEA, and DOE contracts as well.

I don't know how it would wear, but to be honest, it would probably help keep the peice from rusting.
Stainless will rust.
You should see the slide of my 1991 a-1 from the summer where I packed IWB....
 
On the question of durability, my 1911 Springfield and Colt Agent have been GC'ed for about 7-8 years and show only minimal wear, and were carried daily until I got my Defender back.
 
the coatings are somewhat sensitive to the bc gap blast and tend to erode away at the front of the cylinders. I had a Rogard job done on a stainless SIG 229 and it stuck fine. Robar phosphates the gun before appying the TRKote and TenRing Precision suggests this is the best way to apply it.
