Gun-kote on stainless revolver?

I posted this in the revolver section also but this section

may be the correct place to ask.

I was thinking of putting gun-kote on my 3" sp101. A dark

grey or OD green,or even the gunmetal blue. Am I asking

for trouble with the stainless? I thought it would look

good, or have I lost my

mind. Any photos of gunkote on revolvers would be great.
Thanks

What is the reason you want to paint the gun? Why not have it bead blasted if you don't like the gun shiny?

I am like Handy when it comes to painting a good stainless revolover. The revolver is already weather resisitant. I wouldn't think it is going to be a hunting weapon, if is though, I would bead blast it.

If you want to do it, it is yours to do. I would have it blasted and then apply the finish of your choosing after wiping it down with Naptha. I use an airbrush to apply my finishes, but the spray can from Brownells should suffice for the one revolver. The sky is the limit when it comes to choosing finishes. Laurer's has many colors to choose from, but you will need a airbrush or good gun to shoot the paint with. I like Laurer's simply because you can oven cure it at 107 degrees. It lasts as good as any I have used.

I would use this as a good excuse to buy a good used blued revolver or pistol and then apply the finish to one of these. I would blast and then have it parked before applying the paint. The park really helps give a tooth for the paint to stick to but it can be applied without it. Good luck with the choice.
