My brother was looking to find out general information about gun calibers. Does anyone know of a good website or book that would explain the basics? Thanks Tim
Any reloading manual should be a good start. Check Lyman Reloading Handbook 47th Edition or Speer Reloading Manual #13. Either will provide basic data and list sources that can be used for more in depth info.

Rifle calibers mostly. I'm a small game shotgun type so I don't know much about rifles. I guess he is just looking for info like the difference in size and use between a 30-06 and a .308 That type of thing. There is so many different sizes its hard to know what is what. Then you throw in the metric sizes its even worse. Thanks for th tips
Have your brother look for a copy of The Rifles, The Cartridges, and The Game by Clay Harvey. Good resource on different cartridges, their applications, and the rifles that shoot them.
