Just curious how many of you guys on this forum run dogs and what breed?
Right now I have 3 German Shorthair Pointers, with a deposit on a pup, which is scheduled to whelp in March.
I am involved in the North American Versitile Hunting Dog Association, so all of my dogs are trained for the field and water.

I have 2 Brittanys that I hunt whenever I can get out, plus their daily training runs, plus dummy training in the summer. Don't want another one yet, I can barely keep up with the 2 I already have!

I run Rabbits with Beagles, and have a half mountain cur and half mountain fiest for a watch dog and pet.

I have two German short hair pointers and hunt them on upland game and ducks, I love the breed. I use to own beagles and will again some day in the future.

I have a "Retired" GSP.....he's 12 1/2, Arthritic, and overweight (much like myself :p)

We quit bird hunting about 3 years ago when he finally caught a car that almost ended it for him. He loves to chase cars as much as quail. The first 2 he caught when he was younger didn't cure him of the habit. The third one he caught only cured him in the sense that he's too slow to get to the road anymore. After 800 dollar knee reconstuction surgery and a month laying on my couch in a cast, he is now my wife and daughter's dog.......The only thing he will point know is pointing out the fact that his food bowl is empty and no one is petting him......

+1 on the Weim....:D

ocharry,
If you love those shorthairs, here is a couple for you.
As you can see, my male is much more tolerant than the female. Isn't is funny how that works out in all of the animal kingdom:D

I'm on my 2nd lab now, both females. I would like to hunt with pointers, and would love to run hounds. But for now, I love having a lab and so do my 2 toddlers! They treat her as a jungle gym and she loves it!

Two English Pointers. One org/wht and one blk/wht. Love 'em.

But, have loved Brits, Labs, Lab crosses, etc. Best ever bird dog was a Brit-Lab mix! Lived to 15 1/2 and hunted (in his own slow way) the day before her passed. Tough. Held my first English Pointer in my lap in the truck (she loved to go) while she breathed her last. She was a few weeks short of 16.

Robert and Daysee

I have a german Short hair named Robert(don't ask)he is a outstanding bird dog but he has 1 serious fault,he won't point.he can find birds when other dogs can't.This is where Daysee comes in,she is a Lab(sort of)she couldn't find a bird if it landed on her head but she can always find Robert and she points him so together I have had many great days hunting pheasants and Quail here in Northeast Iowa.If I ever get this computer figured I will post some pictures of them working ELMO

Our deer season has been out since Feb first, and ever since then we have been hunting birds as much as possible. This is my dogs first season, and for the most part she does everything I want. I tried to find some left over liberated birds, wild birds, or woodcock Monday after a full weekend of hunting. All I can say about that adventure is there just aren't many wild birds left here in AL.

Heres a picture of this past weekend. The dogs shown are my setter/brittany, and my buddy's short hair.

PS Win243 - If you take both of your dogs and shake em up in a bucket and pour it out you get something that looks like mine. Best part is people give dogs like that away, and they make good little bird dogs.

Pictures of my two German shorthairs

The first picture is of my oldest GSH, Bert with a 2 man limit of woodcock that we got in 40 minutes of hunting, he was 4 in that picture, he is 10 now. I'm going to miss him when that sad day comes. The second pictures is of Bert and his puppy Ike who I got to hunt this last season for the first time and he is showing to be just as good as his father. I need to take more hunting pictures i can't believe these were the only two I had of them.
