Gun Control is humiliated again...

great article, and quite true. ive had this arguement several times with several anti gun types, and a few ive got to come around to a logical way of thinking, a few not so much

So here we see another prime example of where gun control, which promises to reduce violent crime, fails in it's stated objective. How many times have we heard, "We need to get all handguns registered in this nation"? Well, why? What good will that do? Criminals won't register. As a matter of fact, it's unconstitutional to force them to register and this has already been decided by the United States Supreme Court. Since they are prohibited from possessing any firearms, forcing them to register a firearm would force them to admit to committing a felony, which would violate their 5th amendment rights about not being compelled to testify against themselves. Neat, huh?

This guy had a pistol permit and he registered both handguns on that permit. The law seems to have been followed to a "T", right up until the point he decided it was time to go "gonzo" and shoot up the joint. No law can stop that.

What would happen if we got national registration of handguns and crime didn't go down? This is exactly the situation in Canada, by the way. The call would go out for a ban on handguns, just as the Mayor of Toronto has done. Since they would have all of the handguns registered, it would be easy for confiscation to follow. They'd just send you a "nice" letter in the mail, documenting the consequences for not showing up with your "registered" handgun(s) within a week and handing them over to the government. There is a slippery slope, make no mistake about it. Nancy Pelosi has just gone public saying, that as a result of all of these recent mass murders, we need gun registration. Someone should tell her that this guy did register his handguns in accordance with New York laws. Failure will, again, fail to persuade the true anti gun rights folks out there that gun control is worthless when it comes to reducing violent crimes. They'll never learn. They don't want to learn.

Well, she's a politician and feels the need to have her voters think she's doing something rather than making it easier for good citizens to keep and bear arms.:)
 
I can't find anywhere if Wong was a citizen

Mention all over of his ethnicity, and his nation of origin, but nowhere is anyone saying if he was a naturalized citizen, or a resident alien. Since he had a NYS pistol permit for 12 years, I doubt he was an illegal alien. They have mentioned everything else, it seems, why not this?

30rnd magazines? All those shots in a "minute"? Seems almost tailor made for the gun control crowd. On the other hand, rapid fire in a closed room, kind of like the proverbial "shooting fish in a barrel".

He may have been quite skilled. Skill does not equate to a sane individual. All skill means is that one is skilled. Nothing more.

The price of ammunition is the key to stopping the shootings? I rather doubt it. He killed himself, after all. Somehow I don't think the cost of the ammo was his prime consideration.

And please remember that to date, the largest number of people murdered by a single individual (99) was not done with guns costing several hundred dollars or ammo costing $20 a box. It was done with some hardware store chain, padlocks, matches, and a gallon of gasoline. Total cost? Probably uner $20.

Wasn't the death toll of the Oklahoma City Bombing higher than that?
 
I overlooked OKC

I believe the death toll was higher there. 168

Perhaps it was subconcious, as the incident I was referring to, a nightclub fire, was set (if I remember right) because the guy was ticked at his girlfriend in the club. Probably the political component of the OKC bombing put it in a different category in my mind.

and McVeigh wasn't alone.

But that was two guys, not one.

Timothy McVeigh was the primary and Terry Nichols was convicted of conspiracy and 8 counts of manslaughter as I recall. Michael Fortier was convicted of knowing about the plan and not informing authorities, so you may not be able to count him.
