gun control compared to other countries

Just wondering why the NRA or others aren't talking about how the history of different gun controls in other countries, and how it has affected each. I haven't done lots of research on it, but had an individual say that other countries that have banned all guns ended up having a much higher crime rate.

Also heard a story about people in china attaching schools using a blade instead. I don't want to get into a big debate, but wondered why they haven't brought any of this as an example?

Another example a buddy of mine looked up the other day and said there have been some repeats of the colorado theatre shootings, but a regular bystander who was armed defused the situation. Nobody ever heard that on the news I bet.

I hope this doesn't stir anything up to much or get me in trouble.

Because the totality of the data is not really in the NRA's favor. The US has a significantly higher rate of gun-deaths per person than any other industrialized country.

Homicide rates are much higher in this country per person than other western countries

Obviously you can cherry-pick stats to tell the story you want to tell, both sides of the debate are equally guilty in this regard, but there is a lot of violent crime in this country, and a lot of that violent crime is perpetrated by a man with a gun. This is borne out statistically, and while one can argue that the gun is irrelevant, that then becomes a negative argument and is therefore not the strongest argument.

That probably has something to do with the fact that, miraculously, none of those children died from the stab wounds. Therefore someone would inevitably make the argument that guns are more dangerous, yadda yadda yadda.

This also was the case in Oregon. On the other hand, during the Tuscon incident, a CCW holder ran in to engage and almost shot someone he thought was the suspect, but was actually a bystander wresting the assailant for the gun. This article made it to the New York Times - go figure - but it goes to show that there is a potential response to all of this.

The main problem with using other Countries, they are other country's!

The USA is unique, we have a Constitution, we run with this document.
I here in Florida, can, and do, carry a concealed pistol, lawfully.

Other places in the world/ Most you can not. Do I care? not really.

Why did we move from 35 years in Canada, to Florida? The weather.
CCW? that is a bonus.
