Gun control book in children's library; new poster, too

Staff Alumnus
Went to Fargo, ND with two friends, both children's librarians. We stopped by the public library and one of my friends found a 1988 British book on gun control within Children's section. I put a note with my URL into the book but that did not make me feel any better. So I made these two poster variants. Not sure if they are 100% clear but they are aimed at the relatively active gunnies.

Feel free to use either variant of this poster and to distribute them further.

PS: I think I now got the URL typos fixed.

Oleg,
I hope you made a copy of that pic and stuck it in the book on that page!
Keep up the good work.

Those who use arms well cultivate the Way and keep the rules. Thus they can govern in such a way as to prevail over the corrupt- Sun Tzu, The Art of War

I must say, that is the most honest photo I have ever seen on the front of gun control book- a faceless government employee pointing his gun at the reader. How ironic.

I am tired of joining other orgs. I might not even bother with JPFO and NRA the next time around (then again, I might)...but I am willing to promote them.

If it was always checked out, they would probably buy two more copies so more could <cough>benefit</cough>. best thing to do is spill a real sticky substance such as syrup on the cover. :D

"best thing to do is spill a real sticky substance such as syrup on the cover. "
Uh, I could think of another (dog-produced) organic substance to spread on it and it doesn't smell quite as sweet as syrup. ;) Great posters, Oleg.

I have a strong urge to donate a copy of Unintended Consequences but I admit to myself that it isn a poorly written book. Oh, for a skilled pro-gun author! Hmmm...maybe I should donate a few copies of "Pallas" by L.Neil Smith...

Oleg, I like the "lies" variant better. I know quite a few people who think that Glocks can pas through metal detectors.

Once again Mr Volk proves to the world, a simple incontravertable fact.......

HE'S DA MAN!!!!!!!

"TANSTAAFL"- R.A. Heinlen

"Molon Labe"- Leonidas to Xerxes at Thermopile

My mother suggested a more subtle variant as a way to avoid shocking the fence-sitters. "Lies" variant, btw, is popular with a couple of co-workers, too.

We *need* materials for 6-10y.o kids to counter the school agitprop...comix format would work.

Oleg

I also prefer the "Lies" variant. The only improvement I can think of would be to add a couple of pointer lines of the type you'd see on schematics of the same pistol:
"Hardened steel barrel."
"Hardened steel slide."
"Plastic frame."

I don't know if that would really work, I just wish there was a way to explain how we know it's not true. I have a friend who still refuses to believe that Glocks aren't made of plastic--she doesn't think I'd lie, just that I'm a know-it-all.

OK, I updated the "lies" poster, better now, worse?

PS: Just got new of a site and an org starting up at U-Wisconsin-Madison. They wanted to use one of the posters (http://www.dd-b.net/RKBA/s_choose.jpg). Will have them come to TFL, they have some very good articles. Speaking of not ticking off allies...

Oleg: great posters...but shouldn't the "Fact poster" have a "actually" statement as well to refute the "false fact"
Just my .02...very nice job!!!
