I am increasingly impressed w Ruger.

Mark II/III classic 22 pistol
LC9 concealed carry 9mm
SR40 high capacity modern 40 cal

10/22 classic 22 rifle
Mini 14 classic carbine, reliable, quick, high capacity

Any company viewed the same way by you? I know Ruger isn't the best gun company in all ways but I am really impressed at their deep lineup of classics or standards which now includes a 1911 pistol. I didn't mention their bolt action guns but they seem good too.

Remington 870 is another "classic" in my view.

What are some other classic/standard models in your view? Benchmarks to which other models are compared? What other company has a deep lineup?

Sorry if I was repetitive. 240am and can't sleep!

Ruger!

First, I own several Rugers.

Standard .22 semi (the pistol that put Ruger on the map).
Mini-14
GP100
Speed Six
P90
LC9

All have been great firearms.

I would say some other classic benchmark guns that I own are:
Colt 1911 (Circa 1966) (the essence of benchmark)
Smith 36 Chiefs Special (1970) (most successful compact .38 spl. )
Smith 60 (about the first stainless snub on the market)
Colt Det. Special (2nd gen) same model Sgt. Joe Friday carried on Dragnet. Still one of the best 6 shot snubs for CCW.
Remington 870 shotgun

I think all of these fit the benchmark criteria.
