What do you think about M-Pro 7 gun cleaning products?

I'm looking for something odorless as I live in a small place and don't want to stink it up w Hoppes.

I have recently started using Hoppes Elite GunCleaner. (NOT the same thing as the old Hoppes Cleaner at all).

I have HEARD, but have not confirmed that Hoppes Elite Gun Cleaner is more or less the same thing as M-Pro 7 cleaner.

If they are the same, then I can tell you that the smell is faint and inoffensive. It has NOTHING like the odor of typical gun solvent. It's also amazingly effective. It's easily the best carbon solvent I've ever used and it seems to work well on metal fouling too.

I just started using it, & for the same reason as you.
So far it has worked very well & I'm pleased with it.
You must use both products for best results, swapping them out to remove jacket fouling as well as powder residue.

Hoppe's Elite and MPRO-7 are essentially the same thing. I once talked to a representative from Pantheon Chemical (who makes both products) and she stated the formulas are slightly different, and I inferred it to mean that there is not much difference. Supposedly the "Elite" has more of the solvent in its formula and the MPRO-7 has more of the metal conditioner. I have used both and detected no difference between them.

If you want an odorless, non-toxic cleaner both would definitely work. They do degrease the metal they are applied to so make sure to oil it afterwards, especially if it is blued steel.

My only complaint about it is that it tends to dry my hands out when I use it.

Mpro7, LPX, Ballistol....

As for the CLP Mpro7 works good. Many use the newer LPX product.
To my understanding, LPX is used by many LE, armed forces in SW Asia(Iraq, Kuwait, Afganistan, etc) & armed professionals.
Ballistol is non toxic, CFC free and has a light pine scent. I've used Ballistol off & on since around 1997. Good kit! ;)

This stuff is just so far beyond Hoppes for my purposes.

We used CLP in the Army for oil, but usually not for cleaning.

REALLY like the M Pro-7 products.

Really glad I found it and got good feedback on here. I uncourage others to just say no to Hoppes or try their less toxic variety.

Been using Hoppes 9 for over 40 years. Dabbed it on like aftershave when I dated my girlfriend, now my wife, and it still get's the job done. It has also cleaned my guns pretty good too.

Might have to try something new...but will always have some Hoppes 9 around just in case the house needs deodorizing.....:D
