gun cleaning kit

Hi I was just wandering if there was a similar gun cleaning kit like otis, I like the pull through flexible rod a lot, I just dont have 50 dollars to spend right now, so is there a kit like otis i herd that theres some off brand makers of some, i pretty much just want the push through rod. Also where can i buy one. Thank you for your responces.
 
Going low-ball on this kind of cleaning system is not a smart idea.

Consider what happens if/when the pull-through breaks with a brush or patch in the barrel.
This is why the military no longer uses the old pull-through "thong and brush" device that used to be in the butt stock of all military rifles.

The bottom line is, ALL pull-through cleaners WILL break off in the bore eventually. This includes bore snakes and even the top grade Otis kit.
If you insist on using a pull-through cleaner system, this is not the place to try to save a few bucks.
 
I think it would be better to say that "some" "pull through" cleaning devices "may" break-off. Did not know the Army abandoned Otis.
 
If you like pull thoughs look at the Patchworm. Its only a patch cleaner but is really cool and portable. It rolls up into a tiny plastic case that can ride in your t-shirt pocket with ease. I have one that goes in the field with me...$10. I've been using it several yrs in rifles. IF you were to break a patch off off it can easily be punched out with a rod...and the odds are slim to none you will ever break the 300lb mono they use. They did this product right.

Then you can buy a cheap kit at Wallyworld to get the rods and other basics. Those OTIS kits ARE nice if you can spring the cash.
 
I made a similar pull through for my rifles. Off the top of my head I can not remember the threads on the brushes. It is pretty much a standard thread through-out the industry.

I took some brass tube that I had and tapped one end so it would fit my brushes. I ran a stout string through the tube, crimped it and went to work.

If you use a thick, quality string, you do not need to worry about it breaking.

In the end, I guess it would have been easier for me to just buy a kit, but I like to make things myself.
