Gun cleaning difficulties.

Lightsped

New member
I have a Taurus Total Titanium pistol in stealth gray. This gun has the ported barrel. I shot 50 rounds of leaded ammo through this gun and now my gun has this silverish looking stuff on the front sight. I have used Hoppie #9 SemiAuto cleaner and the Bore cleaner and removed some of this silverish stuff, but I can't seem to get the rest of the silverish stuff off. I have tried scraping it off with my fingernail and that isn't working either.
Any ideas? Thanks

Lead Away cloth by Kleenbore.

That should do the trick very nicely. It will also remove carbon stains.

Just don't use it on a blued gun. It will remove the bluing.

Smith & Wesson is dead to me.

If you want a Smith & Wesson, buy USED!

Lightsped, just about anything that will scrape the lead off may scratch/polish the finish. It's a little early and I'm still working on my 1st cup of coffee but I can't think of any product that will just disolve the leading. I would continue with what got rid of some of it. Eventually it will remove it all. Then I don't think I'd shoot lead out of it anymore unless hard cast with gas checks. George
