Gun case for air travel

I'm looking for information on gun cases for flying. I have a trip this summer and want to take my pistol with me. I've read up on the FAA stuff. I just need to know what kind of cases are good with the FAA locks etc.

i have a 1750 pelica case that i transport my rifles in. i have it covered in stickers of Herbie the luv bug, linsey lohan, powderpuff girls hearts rainbows eunicorns ect.
i liik silly at the airports but it hasnt been stolen yet.

LOL... camoflauge and concealment.

I would buy the toughest case I could find that meets TSA standards. its pretty amazing what the luggage handlers for airlines can break.

I have a starlite gun case that is perfect for airline travel. Built like a brick sh*t house. Comes with skate wheels, two handles, and ability to be locked with 4 quality padlocks. Couldn't find a link for you but it interested let me know and I will dig mine out and find more info.
PS also looks very cool!!
:D  :D

Revo,

That sounds like what I'm looking for. A case to carry a handgun on an airplane in my checked baggage that cannot be broken by the baggage guys. Something that I can put an FAA lock on just in case. That would be excellent. Don't worry about a link. If I can't find the website on google, I'll check back with you. thanks

read the story on pelicans catolog about the apache Helo that got shot down and the only thing they salvaged was a pelican case w/ a few sat phones GPS units and a brick of c-4 still in it unharmed.

sweet. I'll check them out.

Also, another question. Are the "FAA friendly" locks a separate thing? Or would I have to buy a specific case? Another way to ask that is, could I buy whatever case I wanted, and then just buy the locks?

pelicans are probably the best (even my photography gear is safe in them) but I've traveled on planes with just a typical hard sided gun case with no problem. And that was with a hunting rifle and scope.

yea, i own a big pelican that can house a lot of guns at once, and have covered mine in band stickers, im not quite man enough to show up to the airport with lindsay lohan and herbie stickers :D

i have to say though that those starlight cases look to maybe even be more sturdy than pelicans are. The only thing i would check is to see if the locking area is reinforced.

good luck

oh, and about the locks - i last time i read the FAA stuff on em it didnt matter about the case. So get the best case you can, get the best locks you can, maybe a little camouflage for your case and you should be as safe and secure as you can get.
