Gun buy back resistance help

Those of you who have participated in resistance demonstrations to gun buy back events, could you post some of your reasons, and perhaps some of the literature that you've handed out.

Though I am not familiar with any currently planned, I expect that here in Massachusetts there will be gun buy back opperations in the near future and would like to plan and participate in a resistance demonstration if it seems feasible.

Thanks.

Do a search on TFL on the key words "Gun Buy Back" and "Mary Rose Wilcox" under the name of RickD.

We had a lengthy discussion on what we did here in Phoenix back in November of 99.

Nothing like getting shot in the butt to make you pro gun control :)!

"...nothing like getting shot in the butt..."

Mary Rose had her first gun buyback the year BEFORE she was shot in the tush with a .357 Magnum.

She is a committed fascist (ie, tax money used to support a private business -- the baseball stadium for the Diamond Backs).

First of all many of the police departments do not have ffl's and shouldn't be in the act of buying guns. They also buy them back with no questions asked. Sometimes these weapons are used in crimes and the police are aiding them in destroying evidence. I think its a federal offense. Tell the people to sell it at a gun shop and they can get more money for it. Most of the time people bring in old guns that are worth a lot of money, and they often receive far less than the actual value. I would buy it from them for more money, and if its not worth it let them sell it. It just gets more jennings pistols off the street!

I am from Mass too and I think jimpeel is as well. Perhaps we should coordinate a local group to attend the buybacks and to bring some cash to pickup anything decent and keep it from being crushed.

I will volunteer to film the proceedings of the non-FFL buy to forward to the BATF and to our favorite attorneys general (Reno and O'Reilly).

I will also volunteer to proofread any of the materials and fact check as well. Nothing grates on me more or looks worse than spelling errors by our side. It plays into the negatve stereotypes and the media love to play it up.

As I recall, she was shot in the ass by a guy upset about her push for tax-payer funding of the stadium.

Dark Avenger and other Subjects of Massachusetts,

Sounds good to me. I'm a member of Braintree Rifle and Pistol; good place to meet for Metro-Boston events.

I'd love to be a part of video-taping the illegal purchasses of firearms by non-FFL Agencies (although, i think the new Massachusetts Regs would not apply to LEO's conducting a GBB program.)

My email is posted so you can get ahold of me.

I'll keep my eyes open for future GBB's and other obscene stuff.

I am a member of BRP too.

No the new "Consumer protection" regs wouldn't but wouldn't the BATF regs forbid some of these buybacks ?

Where does one watch for GBB announcements ? I've never seen one here in MA.

I will add my new e-mail address A.S.A.P.

Maybe we should put together some sort of response team. Are you a member of GOAL ?

The MAD DADS (committed to getting black youths away from violence, among other things) have this buy back program every spring. They give a measly $50-100 for each gun turned in to them. They then turn the weapons over to police for destruction.

A friend of mine's father used to go to the "buy backs" here in Omaha every year. He would walk up and down the line and offer the owners more than what they would get from MAD (provided the firearm was in good condition and acceptable, of course). He would only buy a few every year for his own collection. They would usually accept.

Two years ago the police harrased him. Even though he was legal to do this they told him to get lost and don't come back. He tried to argue and they threatened to arrest him for "interferring with a police officer" or some such non sense. He never went back to any buy backs since then.

Isn't it a mistake to have these, anyway? I would imagine a lot of those guns are probably stolen property. Even if it's just a few it doesn't make it right. Does the govt. have a policy of destroying stolen property before giving someone a chance to come forward and claim their property. What if someone stole my car and the police destroyed it because it "could be used as a deadly weapon"? That just doesn't happen.

Yes, as a matter of fact, i'm soon going to be a life member of GOAl. I think we should contact GOAL and see what help they can muster.

Ive never seen an "announcement" of a GBB program outside of the news media, which doesn't usually give much notice, usually just a week or so.
