Anybody here ever purchase anything from any of the listed gun auctions here on the web?
What have been your experiences if you have?
I almost did once, but the guy wouldn't email info that I wanted it was a collector piece.
Just curious

I've now purchased four off the internet two from Auction arms and two off e-bay before they closed down gun sales. Was very happy with all four purchases. Got me a real nice 99.9% condition Dan Wesson 15-2 target pistal pack in 357. Came with four barrels, 2",4",6" & 8". Two sets of grips, 16 front sights, carry case, belt buckle, tool etc. Has ajustable trigger pull and hammer on it. Paid $395 for it with shipping etc. Was offered $750.00 the day I picked it up at my FFL.

Also picked up a Browning B-80 that was made in 1976 new in the box. Paid what the retail was in 76.

What I have been doing is having the seller take the gun to their FFL to hold. I then have my FFL send the check to his FFL with instructions to his FFL to hold the check until my FFL receives the gun. (what a mouth full). My FFL is also a gunsmith, so I have him check it out. All this generally runs me about $50 bucks, but some real good deals can be found off the net.

I usually buy from our local gun dealer, but on occasion I find that one good deal that I can't pass up. When I go to sell, I always sell it through our local on consignment.

Hope this helps.

Where are some sites that allow the sales/auctions of guns?

www.gunbroker.com www.auctionarms.com

These are the best in my opinion. Gunbroker is free to both the buyer and seller--unless the seller wishes to have his auctions "featured". They also allow the auction to continue until all bidders have had a chance to bid. More like a real live auction. Auctionarms is bigger, more chance of finding for what you're looking for, and the auction ends when it says the auction will end.

Both sites are good, they post all BATF laws which have to be followed. Good luck--just not against me. ;)

There's another called gunhouse.com, somewhat smaller than gunbroker and auction arms. Also, a site called Kittery Trading Post. Try kitterytradingpost.com, they sell used guns there. Not an auction, but have great prices and are honest to deal with. A friend of mine just bought a 98%+ Red Hawk for what sounded like a VERY good price. Gun was as good if not better than they described over the phone. I understand they also take trade-ins nut I've had no experience with them on that.
