Gun Apps

Hey i have been exploring guns recently and stumbled upon an app called Gun Inventory where you can log and store all your firearm information on your phone/Ipod so you always have it... I'm just wondering what you guys think about having all that information in one place if it would be good in case of theft or if it could get you in trouble someday having all your guns listed in one place...

I have mine on an Excel sheet that's saved on multiple computers plus an external hard drive I keep in my safe along with all their pictures and photos of receipts. I have three worksheets; one each for rifles, handguns and shotguns. I like this way as I can custom make the format I want and not limited to what a program or app deems appropriate. On mine, not only do I have the basic info but I have the date I bought and what I paid for it plus I include the same info if it has a scope. I even have the MSRP listed for when it was bought. I also have the year the gun was manufactured which is really nice to have especially with the older ones I've inherited. Also with the one's I've inherited I give a brief description on the guns history with family owners and how I came to acquire it. I even have a column that states who it's supposed to go to in the event something happens to me.

Probably a lot more info than most use but it gives me peace of mind should something happen to me. It's also nice to have such detailed information should something happen where I need the info for insurance reasons. With having my list in multiple locations, I don't have all my eggs in one basket so to speak which would be the big drawback with the phone should it get broken or stolen. If you don't have Excel on your computer, use a Word document or something similar. I think in the long run you would like this way much better as you can really make it your own plus you can have it in different locations. Hope this helps.
