Gun-altered reality

Perhaps I've been spending too much time on here... my wife sometimes thinks so. Perhaps I'm getting too absorbed in this sporting pursuit, but it seems that since I started shooting my view of reality has altered.

Now I don't mean that I view all and sundry with suspicion, nor do I assess every passing granny to see if she has any tell-tale printing at 4 o'clock. I mean the subconscious things which makes it altogether more worrying.

Examples.
Had a later start the other day. After a shower I came back to the bedroom and saw the time. 19 minutes past 9. Except that is not what I saw. I saw 9:19, which translated to 9x19 and then onto 9mm Luger, my comp calibre.

Then come car numberplates. Over here they are 3 digits and 3 letters. I find myself doing double takes when I see registrations that start with 308, 223, 044 and so on. I almost expect the rest of the plates to read WIN, REM or MAG.

Do I need help?
Are you in the same boat?
Is there any hope at all?

Do I need help?
Yes, of course you do. Have somebody take you, or take yourself, or take somebody to a shooting range several times a month to shoot. Continue reading here to explore and try to understand your fascination with all things firearm related and with other people that share this passion. As well as you are able, continue to support the firearm industry, (which in turn supports your addiction) by buying guns and ammunition and accessories.

Are you in the same boat?
Of course not. I am very well adjusted. And by well adjusted I mean that all my firearms with adjustable sights shoot to their point of aim.

Is there any hope at all?
You're asking that HERE? I mean seriously, you want to be the only sane guy in the asylum? (That would be kind of lonely.)

Nope - been doing similar over the years myself...

Trying to stop the gas pump at 19.11, 30.06, 44.40....has become sort of a game i play :D.

I took the most horrendous Intro to Statistics class last semester.

Before I figured out how to print out books in PDF format, I would simply look at my then digital watch and make calibr designations out of the numerals.

556, 545, etc.

I convert phone numbers etc into model numbers/calibers to remember them.
My mates phone number is a model and 2 calibers.

You are indeed in good company. I happen to love pocket knives too in addition to guns. So I have two things to live with. :). We are all in the same boat.

I needed to learn a new license plate and thanks to SW for their complex 3rd gen semi models - I made up a mnemonic with a strong visual image - using Paivio's peg word system for imagery.

I've got it bad as well... :)

As a matter of fact sitting here at work twiddling my thumbs (systems down). I looked up different ideas for a personalized liscence plate through my state. You would be amazed at how many are still available. Seriously thinking about getting one...

Something like 9luger or 556ryfl. Stuff like that other people won't get unless they are gun enthusiasts (addicts) as well.

I always liked Burt Gummer's UZI4U tag in the first "Tremors" movie.

I would want 38SUPER.

Edit: In further proof of my addiction, I just noticed that my post count was just recently at 642. :)

Apparently, I'm not really a gun enthusiast. I know this because, browsing TFL from the "new posts" button awhile back, I came across a thread title: Lee dies.

Instead of thinking about reloading presses, I just wondered who had passed away.
