Iv'e decided to make my Llama Max I a project gun. I found a lot of after market parts that will work. Barrel bushing, trigger, mags etc. Can anyone help me with a full lenght guide rod, that will fit ?

Good luck! Nice to have lots of money. After you are done with that project, I know where there is a Yugo that you can rebuild into a NASCAR racer.

MDS,, I had to make mine, and the plug.

everyone beets these guns up but the one i have seems to eat everything i throw at it and it is plenty accurate for defencive work,,, definitely not a bulls eye gun but at 10 yrds it will make coffee cup size groups and i don't have a lot of money in it. is it a Springfield or a Colt or Kimber NO but the one i have will get the job done. i carry a colt and have a Springfield too along with the old llama

just my .02 YMMV

Yeah. I have two other .45s. An XD and a SW P99, Ican get a decent Barrel bushing for around 20.00$ Wood grips for another 25.00$ mags are easy to find. I just thought a full guide rod would be nice to tame the recoil a bit. It works flawlessly. I'd just like to dress it up a bit.

you better check that,,, the grips are different(screw spread)on mine anyway,,, i don't think standard grips will just screw on,,,, also the main spring housing is not a standard thing,,, if you change it,, it will not be just a swap out,, mine is a bob tail now because the pin was threaded on one end and i didn't like the way a standard pin fit.... i have this gun because the guy that bought it was pissed off at it because not much standard stuff will fit it,, so he ask if i would give him $75,, so that's my story,,,, but i like tinkering with it.. it's definitely not a silk purse nor do i think it ever will be,, but it does work now and i would not be afraid to trust my ass to it if need be,, i'm doing the work and most of the stuff i have made or had laying around so the only thing i have really invested is the time.... Mr. Keenan is right though,, it's not a building block!!! before you buy anything for it i would do some measuring to see if the holes are in the right place and of the right size( bet there not) just my .02

That's funny!
Reminds me of words of wisdom from my Grandpa - "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken (poop)".

Trade the LLama off for a good unit to build on, like a Colt or SA. Everything fits those.

You would have to buy (or make) the grips speciffically for the gun. Colt grips won't fit. My point is that if the gun is reliable you shouldn't tinker with the innards. Do something cosmetic to personalize it.

You might have a point Bill. I have found info on the 1911 site. Grips are not a problem. Thanks for the feedback.
