Guide Rod Life Span

Guide rod: machined from bar stock steel, will last forever. If made from plastic, not too long.

Recoil spring: usually about 2000 to as many as 5000 rounds. If the gun is very reliable, then begins to develop feeding problems, recoil spring is weak. Brass should land about 3 to 6 feet from the ejection port. If it is going further, the spring is weak or underpowered, if the brass barely makes it out of the port, the sping is too strong.

Hope this helps.

I agree...if made from ordinance (4140)steel/stainless it shouldnt wear out...
The springs life span depends on the gun, caliber and design. A short and fast cycle/heavy slide....like a Kahr K series will eat a spring very quickly. Recoil springs wear out slowly and you may not pay attention to the decrease in tension...until you replace the spring with a new one...then WOW.
A tip is try www.gunsprings.com Wolff offers the best springs available.
Shoot well
