Guess what! It turns out that shot placement doesn't matter after all!

Just listen to this "expert" and all of his extensive knowledge gained from service with special forces!

It's absolutely shameful that anybody would go out of their way to post a video like this. 5 thumbs up? This guy is endangering the lives of those 5 people that believe him should they ever need to pull the trigger in self defense. There's no place for a false sense of security when it comes to defending our lives.

Anybody else seen this? Or perhaps anything else similarly terrible?

If you don't think the person has a valid point, then posting a link and giving them pageviews is probably not a good strategy. It isn't unheard of for Youtube channels to try and generate pageviews by taking a contrarian stance on some issue within that community.

"You can be standing this close to me, when I shoot you you are going across the street...If you shoot someone with a .45 in the hand, you are going to spin around and drop and hit the ground, it doesn't matter."

 Clearly, physics is not his strong point, nor ballistics.

I am thinking if you take your firearms information from teenage boys on Youtube, you probably deserve what's coming to you.

While I know there's those who put useful gun information on YouTube, the signal to noise ratio on there is so incredibly poor I just don't pay attention to anything people put in "informational" YouTube videos. Be it a rant, taktikul infurmation, or honest to goodness classroom instruction, the format doesn't lend credence. It would be like putting quality firearms reviews in MAD Magazine as far as I'm concerned. Even when there's useful information, it's often 5 minutes of hemming, hawing, and generally poor public speaking and editing before the person finally gets to the point.

I may be a curmudgeon on this, but I don't know why anybody views them or even makes the things. Leave YouTube for things like shooting watermelons, keyboard cat, and blooper reels from home movies. :D

That's a bit on the harsh side, but yeah, I tend to agree.

Work at a range or a gun shop for one afternoon, and you'll find yourself debunking some truly awful ideas imparted by self-appointed experts on YouTube.

Of course, the real problem is that children are no longer raised to think with any degree of skepticism.

One of the things that really bugs me is that when somebody disagrees with the guy he tells them their opinions aren't valid because he's seen firefights as a member of special forces and they haven't.

he's seen firefights as a member of special forces and they haven't.

Maybe on his X-Box while playing 'Modern Warfare'.

Since when do Special Forces teams engage enemies with just a handgun? They were carrying M9s and the OpFor was carrying some kind of .45 so he could compare the 2?

He's barely 21, and he's pushing buttons.I doubt he's a Marine or has any enlisted experience. Why feed into his rhetoric.

I thought that the video was of another guy who writes for Benneli

I made it to about 1:45 before I couldn't stand his squirming.

It's clear he is out there for the views, he says it in the beginning when he quotes his other videos view count. By posting this is only making the video more popular.

If he was military, especially special forces, he would know he's wrong

I have seen many jerks like the guy in the video at the local ranges. When they show up, I vacate the range. On one recent trip to the range one such know-it-all jerk had two ricochets caused by his style of shooting before being asked to leave by the RSO.

Unfortunately, you linked this as it is clear he is primarily interested in "hits."
I disagree that You Tube has little value for firearms. Hickok 45 videos are great and there are many other great videos demonstrating firearms disassembly/assembly or incredible shooting skills from the all-time greats..

I would think that people who are willing to put their real names and faces on YouTube with their opinions are just as concerned with their reputations as they are with getting views on their videos. If exposure means enough thumbs down and enough scrutiny to make him either take the video down or rethink his stance on the issue, then that's a good thing. If not, then he was going to get views over time anyway. The fact of the matter is, though, that he is giving people information that could imbue them with a dangerously false sense of security.

Maybe I'm wrong to feed him the views, but that's the way I look at it at the very least.

I agree, but consider all the drivel folks have to wade through to find the good stuff. How are folks who aren't long-time gun culture people supposed to know the difference?

^ Well that is a good question - as they say, at least have the sense of an old cow, and eat the hay and leave the sticks. Good start is reading books (I know it's a crazy idea) and spending time on sites like this and talking to experienced practitioners before you dive into any potentially dangerous activity

I did not watch the video but as a former navy special operator I can tell you hands down shot placement is of little concern to me. Don't get me wrong they taught us how to shoot. When clearing buildings we had 3X5 cards on the targets we had to hit to pass. In combat shooting all I care about is getting lead on target. For me a successful hit is inside the shoulder to hip box. Center mass is where you want to direct your fire but there are many shots outside of that, that will quickly take out your target. On a target with body armor that's to far for knives you want to target neck, hip to knee from the center in. A shattered femur or hip will bleed out very quickly, high chance of shock, and hobble your target. Combat is chaotic you don't aim you point and shoot and you learn to do that well with a lot of practice. 10s if not 100s of thousands of rounds down range.

The reason we cary 45s is because we want to put as big of holes in as few rounds as possible in case we have several targets. Not so I can spin someone around with a shot to the hand lol. Also the side arm is the weapon of last resort. When I was going into combat I would want an AK 47 or 74 both are more lethal then the american counter parts, a smg 10mil or 45acp HK variety, a sig or HK side arm 45acp. A solid knife sog or kbar. A couple frags and flashbangs. Not all the most accurate but carry the more lethal rounds.

It has been illustrated many times that that a motivated assailant can kill you even after they have sustained fatal injuries. Keep hitting them until they fall down.

The only sure one shot kill is to sever the brain stem. That is a very small target.
