GSI firearms

Saw an add in "Combat Gun" magazine touting the Steyr S-Series semi autos.

Would any recommend this manufacturer or model for that matter? I've not seen much written.

Also, on an unrelated matter. I'd like to know what "striker fired" means.

we're all sitting here anxiously waiting for the S 40s to get to the US (GSI has not received them from Steyr yet)

So far, other then some people's dislike of the Trapazoid/Triangle sights, I've heard nothing but good things about the new Steyr M and S guns. (in fact I will soon be in the possession of an M40)

Striker fired means that instead of a hammer that swings down to hit the firing pin, a spring loaded pin pops out and hits the firing pin (kind of like a push button ball point pen...kind of :) ).

Striker or hammer, don't matter so much so long as the primer gets struck. The main reason for strikers is so that certain pistols like Glocks can have the striker spring half-compressed for a short, light trigger stroke. You don't want to try that with an external hammer.
