The fact that so many media sources have the same image is disconcerting at best.

The War Correspondents Memorial, near the USA Today Building in Rosslyn (Arlington), VA, lists the names and dates of those journalists that paid the ultimate price for being too close to the action. Curiously enough, since the media debacles of the Viet Nam war and the ensuing public reaction (c.f. US demonstrations of the late '60s & early '70s), access to operational areas tends to be tightly controlled, not only for operational security concerns but also to limit or create political fallout (depending on how and by whom the info is used).

Consequently, this is the age of the "sound byte" and the "photo-op", which, being contrivances of the controlling "occupants" of an area, are very limited in both scope and depth. This tends to significantly reduce the rate by which names are added to the memorial, as evidenced by simple observation.

Think about this every time you see an image or hear rhetoric: "Ground truth" is based on the movement of money, so in order to find it, one must follow the money trail.
