Grizzly Bear hunting returns to BC!!

It is once again possible to hunt Grizzlies in BC!! Hallelujah!!

Explanatory note: For years we here in BC suffered under a socialist provincial government that, among many other disasters, ended Grizzly hunting. Recently they were defeated by a landslide vote. The new government has reopened grizzly hunting and all you Americans (and anybody else) are invited to participate.

We also have over 120,000 black bears waiting for you.

This is my first post on this board. This is in honour of July 20 being the 130th anniversary BC joining Canada. Or was it the other way around?
 
Well Fraser, The CONTINUING socialist canook government won't let me come up to hunt anyway because they don't like my hardware. (which is too bad because I live in Washington State)

I don't rifle hunt, I pistol hunt and The Cretin doesn't want my handgun hunting dollars. :mad:

Maybe y'all can continue with the civil disobedience and get your gun laws straight, but since we can't manage that HERE I won't hold my breath.

However, if you can CHASE some of those bears my way I'm pretty sure I can keep the border patrol from harassing them too much... :D
 
Out of curiousity, does anyone up there use a bow to hunt grizzly? ;)
 
That seems too dangerous to be worth while.

How would you prepare Grizzly Bear meat? Wouldn't it be very tough?

I'll eat venison, squirrel, wild pork, rabbit, duck, dove, quail and especially turkey. I've even eaten rattlesnake. But I have a problem eating meat from a MAMMAL that consumes other raw animal proteins. That just don't seem healthy. :eek: And since I won't eat it, I won't hunt it. Yuck! :barf: If you could guarantee that the bear only ate nut and berries, and peanut butter sandwiches :rolleyes: , then maybe I'd try it out. But, I live in Alabama and we have black bears here.
 
Some Bear Facts....

70% of a bears diet consists of grass, fruits berries and other Vegetable Matter.

Grizzlies are the only bear that will hunt an animal, black bear are happy go lucky and if they find a carcass they will eat it. (for the most part, bears are like people and have differant personalities)

A Skinned Bear Looks EXACTLY like a human Body, that was the hardest thing to get over for me..... the meat is actually yummy if prepared properly.

The bears to stay away from are garbage bears and salmon bears..... there meat is a wee but gamey. Get the ones that live back in the high timber and have been living a good life and you will be happy with the meat.

Rebeldon, some of the tastiest meat I've ever eaten, anywhere, anytime, is that of the mountain lion.

Good to see some fellow BC boys in TFL (Fort Nelson, Mile 300 of the Alaska highway). Its not so much the fact that I want to hunt grizzlies, its the fact that some tree-hugging granola munchers from the cities of Vancouver and Victoria told me that I couldn't. They don't have a clue what it means to live in the North, where the grizzly and black bear populations are high, almost too high. Just yesterday I was out scouting on my quad for the upcoming elk season, and I treed a ma black bear with 3 cubs. Just about every bear I have seen in the last 2 years has had 2-3 cubs, grizzly included, which tells me that the populations are healthy and that if we don't start hunting them harder, its gonna get scary. Just ask the outfitters and hunters, bears will come running to gunshots, cuz it means free lunch for them. On to a similar topic, the wolf populations are starting to get outta hand around here, taking too many elk and moose down each winter. I was told by the regional wildlife manager "Do your part, if you see a wolf, shoot it." Okay, sounds good to me.
 
Welcome aboard, Stonesheep! You're in a real pretty part of the world. I made a run past Lake Louise to Jasper, and then west and south to Vancouver, some years ago. Real enjoyable trip, particularly seeing the critters along the Icefield Parkway.
