Gritty SA trigger normal on S&W 1076???

I've never owned a S&W semi-auto before, but I now have a 1076 with a very nice and very smooth DA trigger. The take-up on the SA trigger pull, however feels gritty ... very gritty. This grittiness is only present during that part of the stroke where there is not any real force being applied, however, and the actual SA firing is also quite nice and crisp. Is this normal for S&W traditional SA/DA pistols?

Thanks,

Dear Shooter:
Nothing does a gritty gun more good than a good flushing with gun-blaster, wd-40, or some other cleaner and blown out with compressed air and then properly oiled.
There was a modification Novaks did years ago to help this but I'm not a S&W man.

Thanks, that's where I was planning to go next, but I was just wondering what the norm is so I'm not out there chasing a cure for something that can't be cured without extensive expertise.
