Grips w/ Square Conversion

I have a 686 with square frame that I bought used and it came with some Pachmayers that I don't like. I want some of the Hogue grips with the S&W logo on them. I don't see a listing for them on S&W pages. But I do see this:

"Hogue K/L Round (with logo) Square Conversion"

Will this work for me? I thought the newer frames were round butts so if so why whould they need a conversion?

Anyone know?
 
All new S&W's have round butt frames. The "conversion" grips convert the gun to a square butt configuration. This was a cost-cutter so S&W only had to make one style frame, which depending on the grip, could be round or square butt.

If you have an older square butt frame, the conversion grip WILL NOT fit your gun.
