Grips for Stainless Ruger Security Six

Does anyone know of a source for rubber grips for Ruger Security Six with serial prefix of #150. All the grips in the local stores say for serial number prefix #151 & above. Would like to change out those wood grips which hard on the hands with full load 357's. Thanks in advance.

CDNN has a bunch of Security Six grips. I don't know if they'll fit a #150 (mine is a #151) but they're so cheap why not give it a shot? I'm currently using the wood fingergroove style, very comfy.

Gator- got the same problem. Just got a 150- series SS myself. I had bought a pair of old, but almost like new Eagle grips from someone at Auction Arms. Thought I got a good deal, but guess what? They don't fit. First I had to drill for that small rolled pin in the grip frame, but even then these grips didn't match up in front, below the trigger guard. Also on each side of the top of the grips there was a small amount of grip that extended above the gun, just below the base of the hammer. I thought they would be ok as the box they came in looked like it was from the seventies, at least. So I'm going to check this thread for sources. Let me know if you find something that works.

Just visited Hogue's site. They specifically state for the Ruger SS that their products are for those with serial prefix #'s "151-". Sent them an e-mail to see if those of us with "150" series are out of luck, or what.

Fudgie Ghost, The grip that will fit your #150 Security Six is the Pachmayr Large Presentation Grip for the Ruger Security Six.
This is a Target Grip, the Model Number is RS6-L 03177.
This one will fit your Ruger better than the Combat Gripper Grips from Pachmayr. Also, they fit better than Hogue's. I should know, I bought 1 of each grip available for the Security Six and tried them all until I found the one that fit the best.
However, you will have to modify either the grips or those blasted roll pins near the bottom of the grip frame. I grounded the pins down on each side until the grip fit.
I now remember back in the Seventies, I had to do the same thing. I also used the same grips back then.
The best & cheapest source for grips is cdnninvestments.com.
Grips in my local stores cost $20 to $30 a piece but at CDNN Investments they are only $6.99 each.
Best of luck with your Ruger, they are great, I carried one for six years in Inner City Detroit and it saved my life more than once.
Now, I need to find enough Ruger Security Sixes to fill all these grips. :D

Grinding down the grip pins to make the gun fit the grips is kinda putting the pot in the chicken, isn't it? Rule as I've always understood it is to modify the cheapest part, not the most expensive one. I'd drill a lot of new holes in a pair of cheap handles before I'd take a grinder to any part of a valuable gun.

Slabsides: Amen, I don't plan of filing anything off this Ruger. I did get an answer from Hogue: They have nothing for Ruger SS's with 150- prefix.

found some!
Go to www.e-gunparts.com, the Ruger category, then Security Six. There is one type there for #150's.

While on the topic, what is the name of the cross-pin that goes through the frame and into each grip? The following part names are listed:
Grip Panel Boss
Grip Panel Dowel, Stainless
Grip Panel Ferrule, Left, Stainless
Grip Panel Ferrule, Right, Stainless

The pin on my gun is obviously not the original, it appears to have been fashioned by the previous owner. I would like to replace it, but I'm not sure which of these is the right part.

I do not have my Grips Security Sixes now but wish I did. The first thing I did was to put PACHMYER grips on them.
