I have an older Ruger 22 Mark 1 pistol with aftermarket grips. I'm having a problem with the sear spring stop pin sliding sideways allowing the sear spring to fall out. I took the gun to a gunsmith and he said that the problem is caused by the pistol grips. The grips are hollow inside which allows the pin to slide sideways. He suggested I get a different set of grips that are solid.
I checked with Pachmayr and Hogue, but I couldn't find any grips for this gun. Who would carry grips for this gun?
My other choice would be to fill the hollows in my existing grips. The grips fit my hands nicely, so I wouldn't mind keeping them. I thought about using something like bondo, but someone told me that it might crack eventually because of shock when the gun is fired. What could I use to fill the grips?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
