Grip advice needed...SW60-10

It's a 3" 357 stainless with rubber wrap around "Uncle Mikes Boot Grip" IIRC. I've in mind to replace with wood grips from Hogue or other vendor. It's clearly not a square butt and doesn't exactly look like around butt J frame grip as I browse various sites. Any advice what I need to be looking for? Something along the lines of the LadySmith grips, gun I was just too macho to buy in the first place. ;) Post pics if you've got them. Good shootin',

I think the regular grips (the ones that do not cover the front or back strap) are the ones most like the LS grips.

If it is for a J-frame, I suggest the Secret Service grip.

Hope this helps...

If you are going to conceal this gun, I would suggest you look at the Barami Hip Grip.

In case you are not familiar with it, it is a hard plastic grip, doesnt cover the front or back straps, and has a piece that sticks off the right grip panel that hooks over your belt to hold the gun securely in place without the need of a holster.

Take a look through Don Collins' site:

http://www.inventorscolony.com/collinscraftgrips/

Type J Frame into his search feature, and take your pick from a wide selection of styles, materials and prices.

The J Frame length of pull is too short for me, and I finally found a non-rubber grip here that covers the backstrap, and gives almost the same hand feel as a K Frame - the finger-grooved aged ivory micarta. And, for the first time ever, the finger grooves fit my hand. He has a "hip grip" style in laminated wood that will fit the frame better, and offers Dupont Corian in many styles, that is a very tough material, and good looking as well.

I'd hate to get slammed for spamming for someone, but put the micarta grips on the 640, and had to do a little fitting (which he made provisions for in his construction) and was so pleased I got a matching set for a 686 snub. Both sets fit smoothly along the fromt seam (rare) and his workmanship matches Deacon Deason's, who I have missed greatly.

The tough part is getting grips that fit YOUR hands. Maby why some of the older shooters have more grips than their wives have shoes.:D

Good luck in your search for the holy grip grail.

Sam

We just ordered a pair of the Collin's # 12 grips for my wife's model 60, the pull is a bit short for her too, though better than all others she tried. We hope this will make the gun fit her better, but as CR Sam said, this could take a while!
(hope not);)
