Grinding and polishing stainless

Hi guys,

I own a Dan Wesson Guardian and fitted an Ed Brown tactical stainless ambi safety to it and works like a charm. The next issue I'm having is that the left side of the ambi safety is thick and protrudes which stabs into the webbing of my left hand.

What can I use to grind down and polish the safety?

I have read that when working stainless, I should be weary of using a dremel and careful of the types of abrasives to use.
 
A simple file will work wonders.
A Dremel, on the lowest speed, used with rubber abrasive wheels will clean up the file marks, but it will also get the abrasive particles inside the gun. You have to clean it very thoroughly afterwards.
