Tom's a good man. Used to be pretty active here at TFL and I've been on his show.

Listened to most of the show and didn't hear too much of anything about these organized confiscations. Tom's a pretty well plugged in guy. Dunno. Maybe he knows the inside scoop but is being monitored and muzzled?

Hey!
Where'd everyone go?

We've apologized for our "censorship" and irrational thread closings. We're ready to learn.

What'd Tom say about the firearms sweeps? It's quite topical, ya know.
Rich

Im here
Ill pitch in
he didnt say anything...
Reason being that he's been coopted by the forces of UN disarmamnet. I know, Art bell said so

Nobody disappeared. Just got back from water skiiing.

I didn't hear any but the last two minutes when I was able to get the stream to work. It was preepmpted by our local station.

He was talking about the situation in closing so I don't know what was said during the first 58 minutes.

I'll have to wait for his web person to put it in the archive.

Rick

Oh, OK.

Can't wait for your report. You've been a real source of news here.
Speaking just for myself, I happened to be sniffing glue when the Government Mandated Firearms Sweeps were going on in NOLA. Go figure. ;)
Rich

What in hell is your problem?
Glad you asked that question. For Starters:
- Knee-Jerk "reporting".
- Poor research.
- Intellectual sloth.
- Adolescent logic.
- Personal stalking.

Back on topic. What was it again that Tom revealed about the NOLA Gun Sweeps?
Rich

Man, you are a weird one, aren't you? One would think that a Moderator wouldn't act like a prick. But given your recent behavior, this is par for your course, eh?

Your reasoning is perverse. None of your "points" refute the individual acts that have been reported. You want a measure of "proof" that ignores reality. You want proof of "gun sweeps" and finding none you lock threads? Moronic. We don't care if there are "gun sweeps" or merely a dozen individuals being targeted by one or more groups of LEO, NG, or Federal agents. A person references an M16 instead of an AR15? Big frickin' deal. That kind of "logic" on your part is suspect. Talk about sloth. Falling for your nonsense would be sloth.

If you are that concerned about what was said on GunTalk you can e-mail Mr. Gresham at tom(at)guntalk.com. Otherwise, you and I will have to wait for the archive later this week.

Rick

Here is some more sloppy reporting.

Troops Escalate Urgency of Evacuation

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 8 -- Outside Kajun's Pub, between the relatively dry French Quarter and the heavily flooded Ninth Ward, bar owner JoAnn Guidos loaded up her 1991 Ford Econoline van with clothing, liquor and other necessities Thursday morning. After holding out for 10 days, Guidos and her friends were finally leaving New Orleans and heading to high ground.

The beer was still cold, thanks to a working generator, and hopes for customers were strong as the flood-ravaged city fills with thirsty soldiers and emergency workers.

But on Wednesday night, Guidos said, armed federal agents identifying themselves as U.S. marshals confiscated her weapons and ordered her and six friends to leave by noon Thursday.

"When you get 15 M-16s pointed at you and they line you up against the wall, it's kind of scary," said Guidos, 55.

Ooh-
Reported on FRIDAY.
Something a bit more current, if you will. I've asked this several times over the past 48 hours.

Did the JackBoot National Guard disarm the ENTIRE city in that one day of confusion, while 98% of the NatGuard RESCUERS ignored the order of ONE overzealous Police Superintendent?

Your story has no legs, Rick. It had no legs within 24 hours of breaking. That's why it's not being reported, even by the bloggers at this point. They, at least, know when they've erred.

But this is the Tom Gresham thread. What'd Tom say? Or was he "co-opted".
Rich

Oh, Jeezus. Another one of your nonsense arguments. If the story isn't reported today, it is unworthy of your consideration? That's BS. Ain't buyin' it.

Do you refute it or not?

Odd behavior from a Moderator.

Rick

Tom Gresham thread, Rick. Remember, he sent you a personal email to watch for it.

What'd Tom say about your Gun Sweeps?

Quick now....your credibility is suffering.
Rich

:D

Yup. I guess I am pretty "stupid" in your universe. Seems to me you're getting a bit flustered, there Rick.

Tom emailed you personally today....can't you just ask him what he said?
I heard the entire show, mostly. Would you take my word for it that Tom backed off on a segment he thought had legs....if not, just when will Ole Tom give you the Special Secret Archives?

Spotlight is uncomfortable, no?
Rich

Rich, you can pretend to be ignorant but few people will believe it. I posted this thread to announce and promote Gresham's show. That you want to turn it into a thesis is your bag, not mine.

I'd bet Gresham has better things to do than type up a synopsis of the first hour of his show, especially to refute a strange Moderator. I'm patient enough to wait for the archive in a few days? You got a burr up your butt? You e-mail Tom, you've been a guest on his show just like me. Call in a chit. Or you can stop being a weenie and wait for the archive, like me.

As for your "analysis" -- I've read your analysis of news stories and find them lacking. So, no, I won't be taking your word for it. Nor is Gresham's comments central to any talk of government acts of gun confiscation which even you can't refute. Your only arguments are that the story is too old (by what measure?), a gun was (possibly) misidentified (not central to the debate) and not enough bloggers are covering it so the story "doesn't have legs" (wrong, and its been on Fox, CNN and the Washington Post, among others) -- and also not on point.

The spotlight, dear Rich, is on you.

Rick

Rick-
You do not spar well with others. ;)
Kindly stick to the thread topic.

You opened this thread with "news" of Tom Gresham's show. What news was there on Firearms Sweeps? I didn't hear any. Nobody else heard any. Were you just "embellishing"?
Rich

The thread topic was to announce the first segment of Gresham's radio show.

Maybe you do think that people think you are stupid. I don't, though. You're a cowardly debater... and your thread closings prove it.

Rick

You're a cowardly debater
Oh, Rick.
Had you stated that to a non-Staffer, you'd probably be gone by now. But I have broad shoulders, so it's OK.

Just one question:
What'd Tom say about the Firearms Sweeps that you've been ranting about for TWO DAYS? Gresham's a pretty plugged in guy. But I can't even find a coded message on Google.

I know all this may be very debilitating to you:
- No ability to point to the "Sheep" in New Orleans
- Robs you of the effect of explaining how you've "predicted" this for years
- Steals from you the "audience" required to dub you the Internet Paul Revere.

Back to the thread though. Did you think Tom did a fair job regarding the bodies lying in the street after the JBT Firearms Sweeps?
Rich

Rich, TFL has been so emasculated lately (thanks to you and your overly intrusive thread closing), that losing my logon here wouldn't be a great loss. thehighroad is a much better place -- both free-wheeling and polite. The moderators aren't pricks there...at least they don't have the same proclivity to prove it as do you.

I'm a little confused as to why your cowardly debate tactics require you to repeatedly ask a question that 1) you say you can already answer and 2) not have the patience for me to listen to the archive to actually answer it.

Are you nuts are just pretending -- as in the following?
"What'd Tom say about the Firearms Sweeps..."

No, Rich, "sweeps" are your bag, not mine. TFL members here have posted MSMedia stories and video of individual confiscations. I can't say if they are "sweeps" or not, nor do I know what *your* definition of a "sweep" is. All we know is that anti-gun statements were made, the confiscations are going on at some as yet unknown frequency (which is bad enough) and rights are being violated. Will TFL help fund a civil case of one violated thusly?

You've been acting a little goofy this week, Rich. I've seen, what, six locked threads by you? In each thread, you've taken exception to the gun-confiscation thing. You spend a post or two taunting and belittling the poster. Then you flex some cyber muscle by locking the thread (as you close with yet another taunt.) I'll chalk it up to your professional links with the people who are leaving people unarmed in N.O. Are they subscribers to your mag? You feathers are ruffled, no?

Essentially, you've decided to lock threads with which you disagree and concocting the reason later. Poor form for a moderator.

Run along, sir. Get some sleep. Any more posts from you tonite and you'll drive TFL activity to historical lows. Remember, one needs signal to have a signal to noise ratio worth measuring.

Sleep tight. If I should wake up tomorrow with another one of your posts asking for me to describe a radio show not yet listened to, I'll know you've lost it. What "it" is is open for debate (in a soon-to-be locked thread near you, bully-boy.)
