Greetings from Colorado. Just found your excellent forum and have been lurking for several days.

Now I have a bit of a question:

I prefer revolvers. I'm looking for a .357 for CC. Cost is a signifigant factor.
I have a 4" Speed Six that's working OK, but something a tad smaller would be nice.

I happen to have the chance to buy a EAA Windicator, 2", blue, .357 for $200. Guy bought it and put it in a drawer. I have experience with S&W and Ruger, but not EAA.

Good deal? Are these reliable? Are they "shootable" enough for a primary CCW without gunsmith work?

I had a .38 Windicator and carried it for awhile but it didn't fit my needs. Yeah, it fired 100% of the time but was bulky and heavy and the trigger was pretty awful.

It's very possible that EAA has stopped importing this gun. I hadn't heard of or seen one recently. After market grips, etc. are non-existant so make sure the gun feels good in your hand before you buy 'cause you're stuck with what you have unless you spend mega-bucks to get something custom made.

At 200 bucks, it seems like the guy is trying to get back all of his money (or close to it). I want to say I bought my .38 NIB for 180 or so but that was 7-8 years ago and I think the .357 was always a little higher priced.

The Windicator is made in Germany. Any I've ever examined did not seem to have the best fit and finish. For the same money or just a tad more you could find a used Taurus, Smith, or Ruger that would probably meet your needs better. Or, Rossi seems to make a decent revolver as well.

I have a 2" and 4" Windicator in .357mag.Both have been very good, reliable guns but I wouldn't use them (or any other similar steel revolver) for CC due to weight.Heck,I prefer my P32. ;) They are well made revolvers that went for $200.00 new when I bought them about 4 years ago.If it is in excellent shape,I'd say its worth $200.00 or a little less ($165.00) and it would be just as good a gun as a Rossi.Heres a link for ya.

Not really that new, got here in Sep 2003.

Thanks all for the advice, think I'll pass. I really prefer Ruger revolvers, this was just an opportunity that popped up out of nowhere.
