green party is not for real men

I'm a former marksman on my high
school ROTC rifle team. I was a redneck.

Now I am a software developer in Seattle,
making 130K a year. Living in a condo with a view of the water. I've spent years
studying Buddhism and last year became
a vegetarian. I'm also an Atheist. I'm happily married to an admitted bi-sexual
woman that is the best person I've ever met.
Absolute non-violence was the path to this success.
Rednecks are a neccessary evil. I recognize there are a lot of miserable
jobs out there,-like soldiers,cops,plumbers,mechanics.-
that need to be done, and we have to
sacrifice a few of our unenlightened,
meaningless citizens for the performance
of these duties.

I'm writing this to ask all you,um,rednecks, to please stop voting.
It wasn't intended for you to vote, really.
Your much more suited for "action"
oriented things.

Please stop trying to make hand-guns
easier to purchase.It escalates crime
in big cities where the more important
citizens live. Like me.

Dude, if you're gonna troll, at least TRY to act like a real anti.

Besides, I'm a redneck atheist. Does that mean I only get half a vote?

Later,
Chris

Man, I hate it when you get conflicting signals.

The thread title:
quote:
green party is not for real men
Then you get the main post, ending with this:
quote:
where the more important citizens live. Like me.
If this is satire, I like mine a little clearer, thank you.

If it isn't satire, make up your mind.

The Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty was a national hero for his success as both a statesman and
military leader. But despite his fame, power, and wealth, he considered himself a humble and devout
Buddhist. Often he visited his favorite Zen master to study under him, and they seemed to get along very
well. The fact that he was prime minister apparently had no effect on their relationship, which seemed to be
simply one of a revered master and respectful student.

One day, during his usual visit, the Prime Minister asked the master, "Your Reverence, what is egotism
according to Buddhism?" The master's face turned red, and in a very condescending and insulting tone of
voice, he shot back, "What kind of stupid question is that!?"

This unexpected response so shocked the Prime Minister that he became sullen and angry. The Zen master
then smiled and said, "THIS, Your Excellency, is egotism."

Check the profile, folks.

Post #1, from someone who calls himself "satan".

Perhaps he thinks his job, or salary, or home, or dear me ! - his marriage 'partner' would make some of us jealous.

There was another group in this country that used to think rednecks (I take that to be common men) should not vote, that vegetarian Buddhist tree-huggers (or their 18th century social peers) were more capable. They were called "Loyalists". Notice, I'm speaking in the past tense.

Lance, hang around a while. You will find many here to be likeable. There is a lot to be learned, too. Have a nice day.

The first two words of Rule #3 that you agreed to, Mr. Miller, when you registered as a member of The Firing Line, are: "No trolling."

Since LawDog and I find this post to be satirical, we'll leave it for now.

If you have the nerve to post again, Mr. Miller, you may find that we, uh, "rednecks" can hold our own in any debate. :)

Thank you for the appellation "red neck", Mr. Miller - and I am being by no means sarcastic!

As an individual holding two college degrees, one of which a Master's, as a scholar who speaks four languages and translates from Latin and Ancient Greek, who plays Haydn as well as Mozart on his 1785 Viennese Fortepiano, as the son of the last blooming flower of the Wilted Post-WWII European nobility, and - not least - as a highly-skilled management professional, I thank you indeed.

It is refreshing to know that, in spite of the somewhat excessive sophistication that my character and my manners have undergone, my love for the Constitution and for firearms (the first instruments of freedom) tie me with those honestly-sweating folks who bust the sod for the sustenance of us all - the good old, all-American Rednecks.

As to your exhortation for us to stay home on November 7, be advised that it won't be heeded - not only because we view voting as an "action" and not only because we believe that self-styled "important citizens" are sending this country to hell; but mainly because we understand the Constitution and appreciate the intangible freedoms we have inherited over any tangible 130K salary in the world. Oh, and because we like to win. And we will because we stand united, regardless of what color, race, marital status or income-bracket we belong to. :D
