"green label" ?

I am looking for a standard grade Springfield M1A to begin building a match rifle. I can't afford a NM all at once, so I figure if I have a good "base" upon which to build, I can put together what I want as the $$ come in. I have a friend who is willing to sell me a "green label" Springfield for $1100. What does this designation mean? Is such a model better than a new standard grade?

Never heard of an M1A having a color-code label. Not saying it doesn't exist as I'm not really up to speed on M1As. Colt used the color-code labeling on their AR15s and Colt Sporters though. The green label Colt is an older model, pre-ban. Also has different dimensions and cuts on the interior than the newer variants.
